Hi All,

I had a 60 Csx until it is stolen on the ferry of Koman in Albania last year :)

It was a nice device except screen is at a bit small side. So would like to switch a larger one.

Some recommended Nuvi 250 as I would like to use it both at the car and motor bike.

Anything to tell/advice on Garmin 250?
Where to buy cheapest?

I have a Nuvi 250w. which I think is the same except widescreen.

It is fine for the car. But not waterproof if you want to use it on a bike. Also cant really use it with gloves (not tried but imagine its not easy).

The 250 does have limitations. Like you cant upload custom tracks etc etc

I have a Nuvi 350 (the big brother of the 250 which also has a built in MP3 player and text to speech capability but is otherwise pretty much identical) which I used to navigate across Russia, China and Europe 2 years ago using just the standard world map.

I found it easy to use with gloves on as the icons are reasonably large.

The unit is not waterproof but that doesn't seem to matter as it still runs perfectly fine even when totally drenched for hours on end - the only thing that happens is that the screen loses some contrast but it regains it once it dries out the next day.

As DrKev states, you cannot download routes but that is not a problem for me.

I have a Nuvi 250 which I use on the bike and in the car. Its fine for both applications but the sun can sometimes make it a little hard to read on the bike. I mounted it to the bike using a home-made mount which I have since replaced with a Garmin MTB mount. Fine for on road. I can even use it wearing my gloves. When it rains I pop a poly bag over it and secure with a rubber band. Good little GPS. Available for circa £70 on Amazon with UK and Europe maps.

Any touchscreen sat nav will have a less visible map in strong sunlight than a 60, if you find this isn't good enough for what you want you could consider a 276c or 278 (some good secondhand deals to be had with these) it's just kike a 60 but with a larger screen.

I've found the routing calculations not as good on the Nuvi 250 as some of the more upmarket units.

I used my Garmin Nüvi 250 to travel all the way through africa on my motorbike and i will use it to travel all the way back in august as well. Its a great little cheep machine with the Europa and Worldmap, Radarwarner and you can even run all the tracks4africa maps on it :)
