Difference between Mapsource software?

Can someone explain what the difference is between CitySelect, CityNavigator and Metroguide. Regarding to Garmins website I find all of then quite similar. Which one is the most detailed and best one to use on the road.

Drive safe.

Hi,

I believe CitySelect is the only version that automaticaly calculates/recalculates road routes on your GPS device (if it supports it).

Cheers

Hmmm, so that's the difference. I will use Garmin 276C. Strange that the other editions of the software don't support calculation of the route. How about World Map then. According to the name I can use it all over the world then, right? But not down to streetlevel.

Hi Ryberg.
I have three versions of the software.
Australian City navigator-This is optimised for use with the 26** series of GPS.It's supposed to have the best coverage for turn by turn navigation.
Europe City select V7-This still has turn by turn but not as complex as the Navigator. It was a hell of a lot cheaper than the Europe Navigator an suits my purpose fine.It still has all major and minor roads.
Worldmap-As you say, it covers the whole world, but only major roads. It does cover out of the way places though,
Northern pakistan and India for instance.
Metroguide-I dont have, but I believe it covers areas such as fire trails and the like.Only covers small areas because of the detail and doesn't offer turn by turn.

I think all this is correct and hope it helps

Regards Steve

I use City Navigator 6.0 / 7.0 on a SP III and it recalculates routes on the trot.

City Navigator and City Select will both perform 'turn by turn' autorouting on the GPS.
Garmin say that CN is optmised for the StreetPilot series and (potentially) has higher quality intersection and road data (used for generating an autoroute).
Some users have tried CS on their StreetPilots and find that it generates very good routes.
CS is noticably cheaper than CN (both North America and Europe).
You can run either CN or CS on any Garmin autorouting GPS.

MetroGuide is only moving map and cannot autoroute on the GPS

Coverage is the same for all 3 North American mapping products and all 3 European products.
