Convert UTM to/from Latitude Longitude online

Hello all,

I cooked up an online tool that could be useful to some of you overland navigators. The tool will let you:
  • Convert coordinates from UTM to Latitude Longitude and back.
  • Covert to and from the different Lat Lon formats (degrees, minutes & second – degrees, minutes – decimal degrees).
Its located at:
http://www.oasisphoto.com/navigation

Hope you’ll find it useful.

I’m afraid any offline version of the Coordinates Conversion tool will take sometime to materialize. However, I’m currently working on an expanded version of this tool that will be very useful to travelers (I hope). It will be on a dedicated site where you’ll be able to setup a free account and upload as many waypoints and routes as you like, either for batch conversion or for storage. The idea is to be able to do this from any internet café on the road and therefore “Online” is the way to go. You’ll also be able to share some or all of your waypoints or routes with everybody, a selected group or keep them private.

If you have any ideas or requests for special features let me know and I’ll see if I can incorporate them.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events (22 this year!); we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, the HUBB or to receive the e-zine. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
