Changing Projection on Mapsource?

I have just changed from 6.13 to 6.15 and the projection used by the program has gone from something logical and normal (that self adjusted with everyy zoom level) to some kind of bizarre widescreen style stretch that has completely distorted the map. I guess it used to recalc the projection with every new map position, depending on the central latitude of the displayed area, now it seems to not recalc the projection and just uses the equator as the latitude reference, even when zoomed into a part of the plant at 65 degrees north.

Is it possible to adjust this projection or if not, where can I find old versions of mapsource so i can go back to 6.13 that worked fine and looked much better.

Probably answering my own question here, but just found this ...

so even with 6.15.11 there is still no fix:
