Central America GPS, Yes or No
I'm doing a ride down thru Central America... Panama, should I get GPS for my bike? is there any times that I should have this for safety etc...getting lost maybe?
Thanks John. |
hi john,
I just travelled through central america and did use my gps. you don't really need it because there are good roadmaps for sale, and the only maps you can get for the gps(I have a garmin) is the worldmap which doesn't have details on street level only the roads. it did help me leaving towns so I knew I was going in the right direction, and showing me on the gps where I was according to the map. bye, Mark |
A GPS is also incredibly useful to get back to your campsite or motel when you're in the big city. Zero chance of getting lost.

Hey There,
Like the Guys say It's a Handy thing to use but not essential for CA. It is pretty much all asphalt - all the way down to Panama City - sometimes pretty rough though !!! and there are a few good tracks to head out on with a bike - so worth while I think.
