Anyone had power problems with TT Garmin Quest mounts?

I´ve had my Touratech lockable Garmin Quest handlebar mount for well over a year now and had very little problems so far on my trip other than occasional power downs which are usually attributable to a dirty connection.

(Its hardwired to the bike so when I turn on the ignition key the GPS comes on.)

Usually, a bit of WD40 on the cradle´s connectors sorts that out however it now doesn´t seems to want to power up at all on the cradle and I only have a little battery power remaining.

I´ve already cleaned the connectors and looked at the earth and power connections to the bike and can´t see anything obviously amis.

Anyone got some other suggestions I should try?

Get a multimeter onto the contacts and find out if there's any power going to them.

Cas :)

I've had the same mount, hooked up the same way, for about a year too. And I've had power problems too. The problem seemed to be that the little block with the contacts would wiggle in the TT mount and lose contact with the Quest, particularly on a bumpy road. I took a piece of duct tape and used it to hold the little block in place. That seemed to solve the problem. Not a very elegant solution but it works for me.

I used a multi meter and checked the connections. Power seems to be ok where its wired up to the bike but nada at the business end, ie nothing at the block connector. I`ve also tried contact cleaner on the spring connectors but to no avail.

Anyway, I recken Touratech will no doubt stump up a new cable for me, seeing as they`re really great guys and all....!

Hope you don't hold your breath while waiting:helpsmilie: I seem to have heard more bad, than good reports about them, especially their delivery times:thumbdown: Which for a international dealer/market is a pretty poor show:nono:
Hope you are one of the lucky ones:thumbup1:

What do ya know? TT USA won't deal with a problem with products from TT UK so thats that then. New cable ordered from TT USA and it should be in San Diego BMW tomorrow. Fingers x'd thats what the problem is!

I've also heard that TT Germany will not send you goods to the UK, they refer you to TT UK, the prices are lower from Germany :nono:
Which begs the question, would I spend my hard earned cash with them :nono:
Hope you resolve your problem.:thumbup1:
