HU meet Malaga?

Hi folks!
I saw on a post a short while ago and can't find it again, there's a HU meet in Malaga on the 12/14th Sept or somewhere near Malaga?
Does anyone have or know where I can find more details as I'm interested in going en route to Africa.
Anyone else going (from UK) want to buddy up?

Thanks in advance

Geoff

Registration form !!

GRRR !
I'm trying to fill out the registration form and it keeps sending it back with '*food' to be filled out but with no food option.
Help anyone?

Hi Geoff - sorry can't help with the registration - but I'm planning on going to this years meet on my XT600e, it would be great to hook up with you somewhere on the way there, which route are you taking ? P'raps if we can get a few XT riders together we can have an XT convoy!

Hey yeah!

hey Mike,
Yeah mate it would be cool to meet up and go down to Spain with another XT rider.
I'm thinking of a couple of plans for the route so hear me out and let me know what you think.........
a) The Portsmouth ferry to Santander on the 7th. Not cheap at 224 quid. Docks on the 8th at lunchtime and gives enough time to potter down to Malaga , a trip of 1,000kms, Arriving a day or so early to 'soak' up some of Malaga. The next closest ferry is on the 10th, docking the 11th which leaves only 24 hours for the trip down!
b) Hit the Dover/Calais, cheaper at 24 quid and head straight south, saving the 200 quid for fuel, food, a pint or two etc but does take a lot longer to get down to Malaga! Obviously!

We both know that the XT is a good bike but hammering it down at 70+ the whole way isn't the best option for the back and the bike but I'm not gonna sit at 50 and be a snail, if you know what I mean?

What you doing for accomodation? I'm up for camping as I'd like to try out the new tent etc as I'm heading for a RTW straight after the meet.

I'd like to be in Malaga a day early as I've been asked to do a medical presentation for the guys in 'biker first aid' and would use the day to get some bits and bobs from the local pharmacies to help and show as part of the presentation.
I know it's a bit vague but I'm an easy guy, as you can probably see. I've not booked any tickets yet as i'm still in Iraq at the mo and was going to decide closer to the date. Where are you setting off from and your plan for the trip?

Hi Geoff,
I went down to this meet last year - It was great fun and a lot of us were either going or just come back from Morocco. I carried on to Morocco and my wife flew over to Marrakesh where I picked her up and we spent the week touring around the High Atlas etc. It sounds like the Portsmouth/Bilbao option is a good one and I'd go with the flow on that, also have a look at the Plymouth/Santander ferry. Are you going on to Morocco ? The group are planning too, I'm not sure if I've got enough holidays to cover that but I'm definitely at least going to the meet. It would be great to get a load of us together ( a couple of my mates are possibles ), as regards accomodation - I'll take a tent and am happy dossing under a tarp/old barn etc. It's a long way down from Edinburgh, you'd be welcome to come down and stay at our place in Reading if it helps out with timings for ferries.
It sounds like a plan in the making ! Mike

Cool

Hey Mike,
Yeah, definatly a plan in the making methinks. As for the ferry, Your right, I was wrong, it is the Plymouth Santander, not the Portsmouth as I thought. Funny that as I'd only just Googled it the day before when Dai had recommended it. I'm easy as to which one the group are going on I'll join in. There's not a lot of distance change for the route between Bilbao and Santander so I'm presuming it'll be the ferry dates that decide. What dates were you thinking of setting off?
Thanks for the offer to overnight at yours, I'll take you up on that as it'll break the trip up nicely, beers on me of course!
Yeah, I'm going onto Morocco and would like to be in Cape Town by Xmas/New Year but it'll sods law again as just when I decide it's the right time to quit my job for the trip a whole bunch of new and lucrative contracts come available! Grrr! But we'll see! Who's the 'goup' by the way?
I'll be shopping around for a tent when I get back to the UK but have also a decent tarp, mozzie net, etc for when I can't be arsed pitching it!
The route I fancy will be straight down without any diversions for sightseeing but more on making sure the bike is running fine and everything stays on as it should and feels comfortable with weight distribution, mpg, routine, etc
Again, sounds like a plan, give me your dates etc and I'll get the ball rolling with booking the ferry.

Hi Geoff - Sorry only just picked up your last post - yeah the Plymouth / Santander ferry on the 7th is the one - the ferry leaves Plymouth at 4pm and it's roughly 210 miles from my place to the ferry so a nice easy ride down on sunday. If we do just head straight down to Malaga on monday I can probably remember the route - Santander, Burgos, Madrid,Granada and on to Lake Vinuela ( Malaga ). As we'll have time on our side we could look at a less "main road" route or get there early and have a look around - I'm easy. When I mentioned the group I was just refering to the group of people there last year, as there had/is talk of some of last years group going onto Morocco, I'd really like to go but I'm getting low on holiday entitlement at work..... We're off on holiday ( the family ) for a week this sunday and as soon as I get back I'll book the ferry mentioned. What tyres are you running on the XT ?
Mike
