Advice on TT - taking a group of travellers
Hey all
Baronbolton and I are trying to start to plan an event for some friends to come over from the States and visit the TT. We spent 10 months riding through the States last year and met so many wonderful people that would love to go to the TT. We want to get something underway to say thank you for all the kindness and generosity we received. For now we are trying to get the inside line. Anything, anybody can tell us, about: days to go ferries to catch campsites etc etc would be greatly appreciated. We need to provide our friends with an organised schedule of events so they can say yay or nay. Cheers m'dears! Char

Hi Charlotte
Ferry. You have to use these. Book early, and start saving! Campsite. I stayed at Signpost Corner, which is towards the end of the lap. If you're early, you get a level pitch. It's within easy walking distance of Douglas. This is a good general resource. I imagine neither you nor your guests will want to miss Mad Sunday, so it might be an idea to go Wed. to Wed. All the little towns are worth visiting. Can't think of much else, it was certainly well worth going. Regards, Mick

I have just looked on the Steam Racket website to try and book myself and van on the boat, I usually book in November but still not always able to get the sailings I want.
 Believe me and anyone else that goes over, book asap. For more info try Welcome to iomtt.com - The official Isle of Man TT website and remember there is classic racing on 27/28 May and the 'post' TT races on 11th June. At the moment The Steam Racket are just taking £20 deposits, so there is a good chance you may get the crossings you want. Expect to pay around £200 return for bike and rider, and approx £360 for a van, there are a number of campsites on the Island so if you get over early in TT fortnight you should have no problem, the one at Peel looks good, what are your transport details? Good luck trying a group trip I and friends have enough problems booking individually.

Just reiterating the urgency of making those ferry bookings. Three of us booked 2 or 3 months ago and we had to settle for 3.00am sailings to and from the IoM as there was nothing else left!
2011 is the 100th anniversary of the current island circuit so it is going to be a big year.

Yep, as stated above. Get busy on the 'phone now. Not so bad if camping but you may find no-one will book you a room until you have ferry bookings. Best of luck.
I was at a bit of a "do" with a few TT winners last Sat. night including Hutchy who hobbled in with his leg in scaffolding. Last edited by Starbeck; 23 Jan 2011 at 21:07.

Douglas Rugby Club is an excellent campsite for easy Douglas access and reasonable amenitiesm especially the bacon sarnie wagon parked by the bar!

A group of us go over most years,we book the ferry on the last day we leave for the next year and still can`t get what we want,Douglas football club is very good ,close to the grandstand,walking distance to Douglas town centre and they must have v.good facilitys in the club house,it cost in 2010 £10 per tent per night.
We allways stay here http://www.glenloughcampsite.com/ 2010 prices £7 per tent per night,again good facilitys tent on site with live bands all race week,and nice pubs within walking distance,it`s a bus ride into Douglas.We try and take in a few days of practice week all race week and sometimes we manage the southern 100 on the last weekend,in all about 12 days. There are companys that will rent you tents and camp beds.The atmosphere is fantastic,there is nothing like it.
