2013 Rocky Mountain Adventure Riders Rendezvous, July 25-28, Colorado, USA

2013 Rocky Mountain Adventure Riders Rendezvous

At the heart of every adventure rider is the same passion that our forefathers lived as they explored west of the Mississippi, over two hundred years ago as Mountain Men. There were streams to cross and mountain passes to be conquered. Around every corner there was a scene that would take their breath away. These free-spirited souls thrived on solitude, but once a year, they knew they needed to return to a location where like-minded adventurers would gather for supplies and celebration and socialization. This event was “The Rendezvous”.

Motorcycle adventure riders are a similar breed. We love our freedom to roam and explore and we cherish the free-spirit we can live on two wheels. It is this passion that motivates Rocky Mountain Adventure Riders to host a gathering, our flagship event. Once a year in the south-west corner of Colorado, in the San Juan Mountains, RMAR riders gather for camaraderie, celebration and phenomenal riding.

Attendance in 2010 was about 80 riders, in 2011 about 140 riders and in 2012 over 200 riders. We expect 250-300 in 2013. The Silverton area offers hundreds of route variations and a huge array of riding experiences. If your pleasure is riding single track, carving canyons on the tarmac or dual-sport riding on dirt roads and high mountain jeep trails, the San Juan area offers it all. There are mountain passes over 13,000 feet and views for over 100 miles.

Rocky Mountain Adventure Riders (RMAR) is a Colorado-based non-profit American Motorcycle Association Group.

Our mission is:
1. Positively Impact and Influence the lives of those that ride with us, respecting each other and supporting one another.
2. Promote Dual-Sport/Adventure Motorcycle Events in the Rocky Mountain Region with a focus on responsible and respectable behavior and riding on our public lands and in the local communities, adhering to all AMA policies and requirements.
3. Support fund-raisers for state and/or local trail riding clubs or Associations/Coalitions/Alliances that champion our sport and/or fight legislatively/politically for public land access for motorcycling.

RMAR accomplishes this mission by organizing and running off events throughout the Rocky Mountain region that provide outstanding riding opportunities and fundraiser for local advocacy and trail riding clubs.

Gang, the long weekend and spring-like weather in February afforded me the chance to ride. Did a 300 mile loop, up over Loveland Pass and Hosier Pass. Yes, I was a little chilly at times, but it was so good to get away on a bike.

Steamboat is coming soon.....!!!!!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
