When giving place names of events or other things, I think it would be helpful to also give a satnav co ordinates..

What do others think ?

oldbmw...
oh yes I agree... a sort of closer description would be nice... but only would make it easier to find a place... yes it would be helpful to mention a village or location close to the event... ;-)

last year I tried to find the Burse Enduro event and therefore headed for Bursa which is quite a large city, expected to find some sort of road signs to the festival ground to be able to camp there for the night... well nothing so far, therefore circled around until I noticed several loaded bikers heading a certain direction next morning... but hey it was weekend and people like to have a spin out in to the country side for a BBQ (very common in Turkey)...
than in the dense traffic a local guy on his bike had to stop next to me and I immediately asked him to get over to the next fuel station to have a quick chat...
turned out that this guy was on his way to work, loaded up for the weekend already... but yes he was looking forward to get to the Bursa event right after work too but had to please his boss first before let free... so he knew the way and direction... anyway the actual place was way out of town, actually 70Km away in the mountains... wouldn't even be able to find the right directions... at least now I knew I had to ride out of town routing south... than on this lovely country lane winding up in to the mountains and fresh morning air, more and more bikes starting to tail up... at one Cay and snack shop along the road I found some big BMW and KTM 990 parked up... and yes this where the right guys who knew the place for sure... Thanks to this guys they had GPS coordinates on there mobiles, ordered Cay and lovely breakfast for me which they didn't wanted me to pay for and ordered more Cay.... again and again I had to tell them how I heard of the Bursa Enduro festival from a guy (Matt) I bummed in to in Alexandropoli in Greece, (he was the one who told me about the Bursa event) this Turkish biker found it most odd how a foreigner was able to know about this exclusive Turkish bike meeting, and the story about how I got the info from a Brit in Greece... which they thought was most unusual... in the end Matt and I where the only foreign guests at the festival among 3000-4000 Turkish biker... what a grate experience... and lot's of fun with gallons of Cay too.

So here we go I contribute the 1st GPS coordinates to the Bursa Enduro festival: found at N 39.46.428 / E 028.50.370 it's about 70Km south of Bursa taking place in a area which is a sort of open shallow valley an area with water, shady woodland, open grassland, WC and all you can ask for... the best thing... no camping or entering fee, it's more likely a very big public BBQ ground... topped with excellent hospitality and very friendly people....

my additional recommendation:
N 39.46.428 / E 028.50.370

even if there is no festival or other event taking place in the location... this place is perfect for free camping at any time, so if you get in to the area which is quite nice, take a rest there, you will find a wellspring with taps under a marble column with fresh, clean and cool water. Expect the usual weekend BBQ by locals.

made the waypoint with my Garmin Montana-600
you may need to set your GPS to position format hddd.mm.mmm with map datum WGS84 and the coordinates N 39.46.428 / E 028.50.370 will show up... may you got confused by not seeing that small circle after the N 39 / E028x, but I have no degree sign on my keyboard...

I got this 39.77380, 28.83950 from using GPS coordinates, points of interest, POI, waypoints, routes, tracks
this seems to be a cross roads near to what looks like a roman auditorium.

this is one of my favourite places in Turkey 37.941118,27.342002

thanks

this link is a nice convertion tool, coming very handy, seams to convert exact by double checking the location in Mapcource/BaseCamp, coordinates (DD°MM.mmm’) "N 39.46.428 / E 028.50.370" equivalent to your (DD.dddddd°) "39.77380, 28.83950" is correct, yes this is the location of the Bursa Enduro festival. ;-)
about the "roman auditorium"... on my map I got this "funfair, picnic area" symbol, seams that different maps use other symbols... yes the place is in between two, sort of crossroads, one is the tarmac entrains in the south and the up to the north entering and further on is a gravel track...

just a recommendation if there are more GPS coordinates being added to this list or on HU in general... just to make it easy, it may a good idea to always add the latitude, longitude together with a appropriate note in which unit they are coming along, like:
degrees (DD.dddddd°)
degrees, minutes (DD°MM.mmm’)
degrees, minutes, seconds (DD°MM’SS.s”)

because people use different types as setup in there GPS and it always creating confuses with the exact location...

oldbmw, thanks for the conversion link.

The co-ordinates I gave were for the old Greek city of Ephesus ( EFES) made famous by the disciple Paul (Letter to the Ephesians). Is a lovely place to picnic and walk down the 2,000 year old main street to the pillared library.

When I visited Pammukale it was possible to sit and paddle in the calcium ponds but sadly no longer. Now it is like Stonehenge, you cant touch only view from afar. No use at all, no longer worth visiting I can look at a picture to get the same effect.
