Which tyres for Morocco ?

Hi

Off to Morroco in a couple of months from the UK on a DL650 ,what are the best all round tyres I can go for to get the best out of my bike on this trip ?
I know it depends on where I plan on riding but I'm hoping to get a tyre that won't prevent me and the bike getting to places where the bikes and my ability would be capable of going.

Thanks for any advice .:D

Heidenau

I'd suggest Heidenau K60 Scout, very durable if you drive from the UK and back, you can expect between 12000 and 15000 km depending on total weight carried on, quite grippy in the beginning though, they do take some km to bed in, very good on pavement and gravel, good ratio price / quality.

Stick 'DLR650 TKC80' into google to see what people think of this tyre.

Having used tkcs, I'd also give a thumb up to k60s in morocco.
Could not have asked for more of a tyre.
My review (on a BMW 650).
There's a link in there somewhere - oponeo? - for a place that was selling them 20% less than I paid.
Planning to fit them to my own bike

i used michelin deserts, tough sidewall, so "flat" tyre riding for a short distance if you have to is possible and they did great in the sand

Grip......

Hi,

I swear by mitchilen T63, have been to Morocco on T63's and find them great for grip on and off road:thumbup1:

Swapped to Mefo Super Explorer when I got home and find the grip on these does not even come close to the T63's off road......

3000 miles rear, 5000 miles front.

Morocco.....grip.........T63:thumbup1:

TKC80s are a good all round tyre.....
If you're riding from Durham to Maroc, whichever route you take, you'll clock up some miles and tyre wear will be high.
I would keep you're existing tyres and carry a set of TKC 80s on the back, fit them before you want to go offroad.
If you're struggling for space, fit the TKC 80 front, carry the new rear and fit when you get there. I did this on a 640 Adv, the front lasts well and the back will be fresh when you arrive and will last the journey home
