TVIP or Carnet

From what I have found vehicles can be taken into Morocco on a temp. import at port of entry. Question I have will they take a Carnet if I have that?
What countries along the west coast and south of Morocco require a Carnet?

You might be able to use a carnet for Morocco .. but it may be simpler to do what everyone else is doing.

Fyi the TVIP (aka: D16) is free and can be done in advance online.
see: Morocco ~ Documents and port immigration | Sahara Overland

Fyi2: a bloke I know got as far as Nigeria before he positively could not proceed south without a carnet (ie: could not get Nigeria visa).

Thanks for the info, Doing it prior and printing it out becomes a little complicate when I do not know at this time when or where I will be crossing over. Then needing to find a place to get it printed out.
Many countries that don't require a Carnet will still use it rather than their own TVI, I have used a Carnet in several African countries that don't "require" it and know of others using one in South America on their RTW trips. I will work on my French and see if I can fill their form out.

You don't have to do the D16 online in advance with set dates - it just saves doing the same thing in triplicate (white/green/yellow A5 sized) at the port. And that's easy enough. Like a carnet, once filled out they stamp all three, keep one and you hand one in when you leave. No cost.

Buy your Algeciras - Morocco ferry tickets from Carlos and he'll print your D16 for you free of charge with date and chosen port of entry.

Happy trails,

Peter

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
