Tangier to Marrakesh
Is the route feasible in one day, i know there will be fabulous places inbetween and why rush etc, but i need to pick my partner up from the airport, and no i can't travel out any earlier !!!!!!!!!

Do able using the motorways. Watch out for speed traps around Casa though

Tbh you don't miss much in the way of sights following the motorway route

For me, this would be a long day! Personally (baring in mind I'm generally not in a rush!) I went from Tanger to Casablanca in a day, and then on to Marrakech the following day. As was said above, beware the speed traps: I saw one officer hiding in a hedge, speed gun just about pointing out of the branches!

Yes, I've done it a couple of times, it's about 600km, smooth motorway all the way.

The motorway speed limit is 120 kph, but even if you stick at 100 kph for better fuel economy, you'll be there, with stops, in just eight hours.

The motorways are incredibly empty compared to Europe, except around Casablanca and Rabat where there's a lot of local traffic.

Thanks for your replies, it'll be my first time in Morocco, and i have a dash on to Marrakesh, at least i've got 16 days to take it easy and soak up the sights after.

By Triumph Explorer, will be leaving UK end of April until mid May, spending 4/5 nights in Marrakesh with my partner who is flying over and then flying home !!!! leaving me to travel to, in no particular order at the moment, Tizi n' Test / Tichka passes, Ouzoud waterfall, Ziz gourge, Erg Chebbi and the towns of Talionine, Foum Zquid, Zagora, Merzouga and Chefchaouen.
Should be a nice introduction to a country i'll probably visit a few more times.
Just need to also learn some French and maybe very basic Arabic !

I don't know just what you had in mind, but don't rely on clearing customs etc quickly. if you do customs quickly, then you might be able to put some miles behind you.

The plan was to have an overnight stay in Tangier and then have all day the next day to travel down, but i might now ride 100 or so miles towards Marrakesh and have it easier the following day.
Any recommendations of places to stay approx 100 miles from Tangier ???????

Hotel España in Larache. The Roman ruins of Lixus are on the northern side of the river before you enter the town. Larache has quite a lot of Spanish influence so you can get churros (Spanish donuts) to have with your morning coffee.

In Tangermed: between 30 and 45 minutes.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
