Problems with Paperwork...?
 

Ok folks, just reading through the ukgser thread on Morocco, one of the posters says in regards paperwork;

"You don't need a carnet but will need your vehicle logbook (V5) and check the address matches that of your driving licence! "

Basically, I've an Irish passport, an Irish registered motorbike, with at the moment Irish insurance, all of the same address....but my driving licence is a UK licence, with a London address. So I've done a bit of research into this, and apparently, officially, I'll have problems getting into Morocco since all the addresses don't match up.

So, what I'm wondering is has anyone had a similar situation with documents going to Morocco? Is there any way around all this?

This has got me worried about my travel plans for the summer, of which Morocco is I hope to be the highlight, so any advice, reassurances on this would be well appreciated! Has anyone had the same situation before and gotten through??

Now I also know that there's a few companies in Spain that rent bikes, and have no problem with you taking those bikes to Morocco, so I'm assuming there's some way around this paperwork/address problem...

Hi Mick,

You shouldn't have a problem. Just fill in the D16ter online with the bike details from your registration certificate. Your address is not required.
Your driving licence will not be inspected at the border. The douaniers will only check that the reg number, frame number and date of first registration match on the two documents. And that your name is the same on both.

A group of us entered Morocco at the end of April via Tanger Med and, for the first time ever in my experience, they didn't even ask to see the V5s! No mater what paperwork issues you may have there are no problems that can't be solved with a bit of time, patience and occasionaly a bit of greasing of the wheels!!
On the first Scoots in the Sahara trip in 2005 we got a Mercedes van all the way to Gambia using a road tax reminder as the only document for the vehical:cool4:

Alright folks, crisis averted. Got in to the Tangier Med port, and although it took a little time (who am I kidding, just over an hour, was grand), a bit of hassle, only because I have no French, but all in all it was a relatively painless border crossing. My worries of mis-matched Driving Licence and Bike Registration addresses was a non-factor in the end.
If I could have improved my French the border crossing would have been a breeze...
