Need address in Morocco to receive a package for RTWer

Hello, I'm currently 7 months into a 2 year trip around LatAm and Africa on a Suzuki DR650. Am in Sao Paulo now and will be arriving in Dakar in February and riding up to Morocco.

Could you recommend a place where I could send a package to be waiting for me in Rabat, Morocco? Would be DHL from London (books).

If it's too difficult, I guess Casablanca could do as well. Im choosing Rabat since I have to apply for a new passport there. My current Indian passport is running out of pages :cool4:

I guess it could be a motorcycle shop or a hotel that's traveler friendly.

It's not always so easy and customs seems to take a long time. Have a chat with Peter at Bikershome in Ouarzazate to see what he suggests.

It's not that far off your direct route from Dakar.

From personal experience I'd agree with Tim.

Depending on when you need your stuff, you may want to ask someone here from EU/UK to drop it off it Morocco.

Or is there an Indian embassy in Mk? Maybe they will receive it for you.
Or just wait till Spain - much less unreliable.

Best not to get involved with DHL and especially packet post in Mk.

Thanks for the link to Bikershome. Looks like a nice place to visit.

Hmm, thanx for the insight. Yes, Im aware of dubious customs in developing countries. A package by regular mail took 1 month from Miami to Brazil, but didnt need to pay any customs duties (motorcycle parts, etc) :thumbup1:

This package is going to be CD-Roms and textbooks and usually this clears customs easily.

Do you think sending to Senegal is less of headache than Morocco?

Im going to be turning around in Morocco and heading back south to southern Africa.

I think it is less to do with Customs hassle than will it get there before you leave, as with Brazil.

As suggested, get someone here to deliver to Bikershome. Now is the Mk season.

Senegal is I imagine no better. Use your embassy. I did in Dakar once (but that was years ago).

Hi Jay,

you could also try and post to the zebrabar:
zebrabar - the relaxing oasis - St Louis - Senegal - Africa
in Senegal, 260 km from Dakar and on the way to Morocco. I will be leaving some motorcycle stuff there aswell, in fact around 1st of februari I will be there and ride up to bikershome in Morocco. I could use some company through Mauritania.

Ah Ok. Then no problem, because the package is going to be dispatched sometime in December. Should get there in plenty of time. It's pretty huge and cumbersome (study materials for a distance masters program) and wouldn't be easy to transport by bike

Peter replied and accepted to receive the package. Thx for the contact. Looks like a visit to Bikershome :scooter:

And besides, I don't think the Indian embassy is as nice as western embassies in helping out their citizens :rolleyes2:

Thanks for link but Peter in Bikershome is going to help out.
Hey, some company would be great through the desert. So my plans now are to leave from Buenos Aires on Jan 11 and it should take 2 weeks to get to Dakar. Even I get delayed a week, I should be there 1st of Feb. Let's keep in touch. Cheers.
