My Planned Route

Tranport LR Discovery & Mitsi L200 will Arrive Ceuta Mid Sept 2010 - We have 10 days in country.

I could do with some advice on my planned route.

I have planned a route in Morocco from experiences others have had on various forums/blogs.

However I am unsure if I am being a little ambitious with the route (time wise). For that reason I have not planned on the return route Merizouga -Cueta incase it needs to be a mad dash as opposed to a leisurley drive back taking on some more tracks.

The planned route is below and 'really' do hope that you are able to advise on the following:

* Time taken to drive various 'legs' (4x4)
* 'Recommended' campsites/b&b/Hotels/roughcamping en route
* Fuel Points
* garage 'repairs'
* Any other Advice

MY PLANNED ROUTE

Leg 1 Cueta- Tetouen
Leg 2 Tetouen - Bab-Taza
Leg 3 Bab-Taza - Fez (See red route below)

Leg 4 Fez - Azrou
Leg 5 Azrou - Khenifra (See red route below)

Leg 6 El-Ksiba - Tinerhir (See red route below)

Leg 7 Tinerhir - Nekob (see red route below)

Leg 8 Nekob - Zagora
Leg 9 Zagora - Mhamid
Leg 10 Mhamid - merizouga (See blue route below)

This route seems quite good to me, I have driven a very similar one recently. If you don't already have a copy, get a copy of Morocco Overland by Chris Scott.

Leg 3 Bab Taza to Fez is a pretty tarmac route. From Ourtzarh you can go directly south if you want, there are many roads not on the map.

Leg 4 Jebel Hebri to Knénifra is piste at the start, then tarmac all the way. There are all-tarmac and also all-piste options. Visit Aguelmane Azigza on the way as well as the sources.

Leg 5 El-Ksiba to Tinerhir is good tarmac all the way. Great route.

Leg 7 Tinerhir to N'kob is piste all the way. Finding your way at the start can be problematic.

The others are all tarmac.

My planned route

Merzouga to Azrou can easily be achieved in a day.

If you've got the time it's worth returning via Meknes rather than retracing your route back through Fez. Meknes is only about 11/2 hours from Azrou. Meknes back to Cueta can also be done in a day.
