Morocco travel info-- visa, green card.

Hi

Looking to travel to morocco in a few months.
There me who is British and partner Portuguese
Wondering if we need visa for our travels there.
Probably wouldn't be staying longer than a month or two.
What about green card?
What about green card in general? Because I really. Don't know the what the deal is with a green card?
I know you ment to tell your insurance about being out the uk longer than 30 days. Do you need a separate green card for each country your going to ?

Many thanks

Mike

We were just in Morocco in late november on our Australian registered motorcycle so this info is very fresh.

No you and your partner don't need a visa for stay upto 90 days.

Regarding the Greencard. Try to see if your insurer in the UK (or where the bike is registered) can provide cover for you whilst in Morocco. Why? because if you don't have greencard valid for Morocco then you may be 'forced' to buy it and it will be a lot more expensive. For 30days, the insurance cost us 96Euros! :censored: I think that is expensive and there weren't other options.

Also 'forced' is a bit too strong a word because when we arrived in the port of Nador, it was late and the insurance office was closed. We were honest and said we didn't have valid insurance. The customs didn't make a big fuss they just told us we could leave but to come back in the morning to buy the insurance. So we didn't need to buy the insurance but we thought it better to have it just in case so the next morning we bought it.

We are in Maroc at this moment, about 40k from Casablanca, on our way to Marrakech. I can't believe the difference in the country from the last time I was here 16 years ago!

Surely someone knows a down-to-earth camp-site at Marrakech! The ones I've seen on the net look like resorts! Help- Help!

Mike, it's a friendly country, reasonably priced, easy-going. We came in through Tangier from Genoa, Italy with our truck and it took 7 hours for one kilometre from the ship to the other side of the customs barrier! It might be easier to come through Algerciras and Ceuta.

The ferry

The ferry cost about 780 euro and a 3 berth cabin (which was very nice, with a great onsuite) was an extra 100 euro. We have a Gaz66 4x4 truck. The ferry takes everything up to semitrailers. I guess your cost would be the same as ours. The trip takes 47 to 50 hours and calls in to Barcelona on the way. I guess you could board there also. Meals are not included. You can take as much food to your cabin as you wish.
You can make your booking with "Direct Ferries"" a UK firm on the internet.

Green Cards and green cards

Hi folks,

Bit of confusion here as the term Green Card has two meanings.
1) A green vehicle insurance document issued by your motor insurance provider (Not all insurers in the UK will issue them. not a problem as you can buy insurance at Tanger Med port as mentioned on an earlier post.
2) A non-resident's work permit. Not sure if they're green in Morocco but I don't think that what the original poster's after.

Happy trails,

Jojo

Thanks! We decided to drive, and the diesel will be about the same cost, but we pay for fast big toll roads around cities or where low bridges can be a problem.

P.s. the gaz66 is one cool looking truck! Love to swap stories some day.
