Morocco in summer 2012 anyone?

Hi folks. i am thinking of a jaunt out to Morroco in my school holidays in July and August 2012. just wondered if anyone fancies joining me.
Or do people think it will be too hot? Maybe just stay up in the Atlas mountains. Let me know why you think.

Cheers Matt

I was there in june/july this year.

In the atlas mountains the temperature was fine and manageable, south of the atlas it was too hot to go off tarmac.

It depends on an amazing amount of things...
What are your intentions, what means of transport do you use, how well can you cope with heat...
If you describe the sort of fling you're looking for, I'm sure there will be lots of advice here..

moroccan Temperatures

i am also considering riding down through Spain and Portugal into Morocco (off road as much as possible) in the summer 2012 but worried about the temperatures in Morocco. i am happy to be spend my time trail riding in the Atlas mountains and not riding too far South. Appreciate advice regarding the temperatures in early July in the Atlas Mountains. Cheers Andy

I was there in November couple of years ago, lovely temps, cool in the mornings but heated up to around 30deg during the day, did some riding near Peters place Bikershome.

Was also there in early September this year without a bike and was pretty hot like up to 40deg some days and wouldn't have fancied riding then, the a/c in the car was on most of the time. If I was to go back, it would be definitely later in the year.

Best time for Morocco.

Hi Matt,

If you're thinking about Morocco in school holidays go at Easter. It's not too cold in the Atlas and the major routes should be clear of snow. It'll be warming up nicely in the desert and not cold at night.

Not a fan of going at Christmas as it gets dark so early and it's flippin cold at altitude.

How are you getting there - riding/driving/flying?

Happy trails,

Jojo
