Leaving a bike in Morocco for a month or two

Hi all,

Before I go digging into this idea any further, Is it possible to leave a bike in Morocco for a month or two ?

I'm about to start working a month on / month off rotation and want to explore Morocco starting in the early spring.

I don't want to keep bringing the bike home to the UK. Is this possible ?
I have a possible place to leave the bike but wasn't sure about the 'rules'. I've visited Tunisia and it was a straight NO there.

Thanks in advance.

The customers in Tanger Med told me that the only possibility is a authorised garage by customs in Tanger. You'll have to fill in some paperwork in order to get cleared to leave without your bike.
Don't know the costst.

Thanks, Think your right . I found this on the British GOV.uk information site.

' Should you need to leave Morocco and cannot take the car with you, you must consult the closest Customs authorities. They may decide to impound the vehicle “hors circulation’’ until you return. '

A friend had to fly home from Tunisia after some fun in the dunes, he had to check the bike onto the ferry with us before he could leave by plane.

I'm not sure if you would be able to repeatedly do this but Peter at Bikershome in Ouarzazate was able to arrange for a customs offical to "Impound" my friends bike in the bikershome garage when he had to fly home because he was ill 2 months later he flew back out and got it.

might be worth contacting Peter:

Yes, I left a bike in Morocco when I had to fly home unexpectedly. Any customs office at a port or airport should be able to organise it.

Cheers, comments are really welcomed, sounds like it's possible, just have to play the system a little from what I'm working out.

I've looked into storage in Malaga but would much rather leave the bike in Morocco.

I've visited lots of places and a little of the Sahara on the bike, but often felt like I've just past through. I want to try and really explore somewhere. Hope this works out.

I spoke to Peter about this in the past and he does offer this service of dealing with the "impounding", so you can leave bike with him.

Although I understood at the time that there is a max stay for foreign vehicles
of c.6m.

If you go over the 6m then Peter was trying to organise some longer term storage in Ceuta/Spain and he would relay it back-forth

The six months rule is six months in any year, so taking a bike out and then back in straight away won't work. I stored one of my bikes for a year with Hana at Motoadventours near Malaga.
