Insurance Booths in Tangiers Med ????

Are there some booths in Tangiers Med ? If there arn't any do any of the other ports have functioning insurance vendors. Want to get it in port if we can to save messing around trying to find somewhere in nearby towns.

My UK insurance won't do it.

Hi, there certainly was when i passed through in May last year, perhaps someone can post a more recent confirmation?
Once you're done with immigration at the port entrance etc its a small building a few yards on just on the right with a few places to park beside it. At the time there was a friendly lady dealing with the paperwork. you could request a ten day or month certificate if i remember correctly. If like me this is your first entry through tangies port, dont worry too much about the poor reputation it has as an entry point-i found it hassle free and efficient- I was 25min max getting through. just have all your paperwork ready and the templates i downloaded from this site were a real help. If of any interest i crossed over from Tarifa which again was stress free and efficient. Again if it's new to you the very first turn on the right as you leave the port snakes around below the medina along the coast and takes you on a sort of backroads route to leaving tanger-just keep your eyes open for the Rabat signs and follow from there. This is an alternative to following the beach front road which in time also meets with Rabat signs. happy travels!

Thanks Jonny. Thats super info. Hopefully someone's been through more recently but most of the reports indicate the insurance can still be had.

This is the first shakedown trip as we plan on a two year excursion this October so were still very new to all this.

Tanger Ville and Tanger Med

Hi Neil,

There are 2 ports.

Tanger Med is the new port where the Algeciras ferries sail into. Tanger Ville is the old port in Tangiers town and Jonny's spot on with his information. There is an insurance office too at Tanger Med. Someone on here will know the exact location.

Happy trails,

Jojo

Tanger Med: insurance and banking is on the left just past police/customs and before the shiny new departures terminal.

If u arrive late these offices may be shut in low season, there is a medina office, and u certainly find a guy willing to show u the way for a little bakshish.

This relates to Tanger Ville port.

Just to clarify, Tangiers is about 40mins west of Tanger Med. Take either the N16 coast road or the A4 autoroute.

Passed through Tanger Med three weeks ago. Brilliant. Admittedly there were only seven cars on the (18:30) ferry, but we were through in 20 minutes.

All the services you need are there, and there is an ATM in the terminal building.

After this, never again will I use Ceuta or Tanger-Ville!

Straight onto the motorway, and we were in Rabat by 23:30.

Roger. We're there in two weeks. Thanks very much for the infomation. Can't expect it to have changed much in three weeks ! Super.

We might get an earlier ferry as i would like to get through it all in daylight. First time and all that, so i think its wise but there may be a few more "helpers" the earlier we get there.

I can confirm the insurance booth in MED was there. Its one of the smaller white booths in the middle tarmac expanse after customs. They sell various durations and the cost for 10 days was 60 Euro.
