Getting OLAF onto our Satnavs???

Please can someone give me a step by step idiots guide to getting OLAF onto my Satnav please?
I've downloaded it to the PC then copied and also tried sending it to my Garmin Zumo 220 and my husband's 660. When the Garmins are plugged into the PC we can see the Morocco Topo folder but can not find it on the Satnav itself when looking through it manually.
I'm a bit of a technophobe so am struggling a bit, when we went to Morocco 2 yrs ago my husband got it on his old Satnav ok, but he can't remember how he did it and the old Satnav is dead :helpsmilie:
Thanks
Laura

I loaded Olaf onto my mate's 60csx unit the other day. I installed the executable file on my PC, opened Olaf in my Garmin Mapsource software (it appeared in the list of available maps after installation) and then uploaded it from Mapsource onto the unit.

This is settings on my Nuvi 1490, so maybe not that same as yours.

Tools-> Settings-> Map-> Info (tab on bottom bar)

is the Oalf map noted there? if so select it.

Garmin GPSMAP64s Help Please

Hi
I have just purchased a Garmin GPSMAP64S in preparation for a trip to Morocco later this year. I have read the attached messages and I think I may be incredibly stupid as I cannot get my head round downloading and installing Olafs Topo maps to my unit.
Would some kind person please spell it out in plain terms for me what I need to do?
I have so far managed to get Olafs onto the PC and I even think I got them onto then memory card but nothing shows on the unit when I look at Morocco.
I heard mention of creating a file on the memory card so maybe I need to do that but would really appreciate a dummies guide.
Many thanks. Ben

I'm so dense

Sorry but when I download the 'Garmin Format memory card' it is stored on my PC. When I then click on it there is no mention of a exe file to get a gmapsupp.img file. It opens a new screen and offers me the chance to download to my CD drive........what am I doing wrong. I really thought that a Garmin was the answer to my worries but I am getting more and more concerned.
Thanks in advance

You're not giving enough information on your configuration for me to help you directly, but the standard method of transferring Olaf maps to a Garmin GPS is as outlined in this thread...

Maps, guidebooks, and GPS (installing maps, waypoints/POI, and creating routes)

The download gets me

maroc-topo-20071221-gmapsupp.zip

that needs to be 'unzipped' to get the actual file .. what program you use to do that will determine what actions it does.

I use Peazip.
When first opened that displays the zipped directory Garmin - I then double click on that to go inside it .. and that displays the file gmapsupp.zip - some 29.2Mb .. I then select the file and click on extract button .. and then offers me where to extract it to.

I would suggest that your program should be configurable as to where the file goes .. currently the CD drive .. click on it and you should select some place where it goes .. like /downloads for instance.

---------------
You have not done much computing have you ? Zip files are common - they compress the data to make transfer less costly. Nothing to do with Garmin, Oalf ... just another computing tool.
