Ferry Genova-Tanger

Hello!

I'm from Vienna in Austria and are planning a trip to Morocco with my bike.
Is anyone on the GNV ferry leaving Genova on Saturday 13th of April sailing to Tanger?

Greetings and drive save!

Surfy 14 Mar 2013 17:36

That is a long ride with the ferry. :rolleyes2:

When you dont have already booked - i suggests to get the ferry from spain. 24 hours from Barcelona are also to much - but better than 48 hours.

The ferry isn't that nice bier

is the ferry really that crappy?

Was considering doing the same journey on Sat 21st April.

48hrs is a long time, but riding a bike with Michelin Deserts all the way to Southern Spain is a shlep too

At least the boat is Italian (so good coffee, but risk of running aground off the Tuscan coast).

I made the Tanger-Genova this summer (2012)

The trip hours is 48...:funmeterno:

The stopover in Barcelona is 5-6 hours...

The ships are new and big...

But the Marocco people is a little bit unrespected to the ship...When we get in every port the stuff was given a fight to get the ship clean and thanks god they made it....

I was sleeping in a cabin 2 nights with 3 other maroco people....I dont want to make a comment, i only say that i was sleeping with earplugs....
The food in the ship was very good...The beer was 3 euros a can!!!!:oops2:
So take a 6pack with you....bier
Take a book to read is a good solution to have the time run fast....

In general is good ship trip and your pocket saves money (from the road costs)....And your bike saves miles-kilometers....

Go for it.....:thumbup1:

:funmeteryes::clap::scooter:

Think that for Tarifa-Tanger i was pay 60 euros me and bike for 1 hour route!!

240 euros was the price for two days in the ship in a 4 bed cabin and the bike....

@ Surfy: I don't have already booked but it's a long ride from Vienna to Barcelona so I think the ferry is is the best option I have.

@ Zandesiro: Thank's for the helpful information, I'll have a sixpack and some food with me and also some ebooks. I hope that the ship is not so crowded with moroccan people and I can share the cabin with some bikers, that is why I posted.

Is the staff Italian and is it possible to get along with english? I heard that the customs are on board and they do all the formalities on the cruise to Tanger.
It's my first travel to morocco, I have a brand new passport and the D16ter ready.

The stuff is from Philippines (the most) But in the casiers was italian people....

I dont know about the customs on board...

When you arrive in Marocco there will be a lot of "good people" to help you with the paperwork....
If you are patient guy you can make it your self or have some 5 euros bills and in 10 minutes you will ride in Marocco....

Ferry Genova-Tanger

Hi

I did that ferry from Barcelona, where I live, to Tanger on 2011, and I'm gonna do it again next week. I recommend to drive to Barcelona and then take the ship there. Less hours in that boring ship, at least you'll enjoy Côte d'Azur.

The ship is old but still mantained, altough some parts of it are left apart. It's about 28 hours of travelling from Barcelona. Get the cheaper non-shared room, it costs the same than driving south by road in Spain.

Tanger-Med, the destination port, is very good. Far from the city, calm, friendly and there is no people around, as it's about 35km from any town. Offiicials are friendly. Better port than Tanger city, altough Tanger city is good, too.
