confusion on maps

I don't know if this has been brought up before, I am not a Morocco expert.

On the last version of the Reise Know-How Marokko map (2011 ed.), there is a piece of road missing on the map, between Chefchaouen and the dam el Wahda but that exists and in very good state in reality. approximate position marked in orange. Good to know if you are planning going that way.

Then there ia another confusion, on the GPS map this time, between Fez and El-Sebhr, where there is a part of the road missing on the gps, which would force you to turn around, but no, the road is complete, and scenic, paved but not in the best of shape.

my 2 cents.

Though I agree with others that this is the best map currently for Morocco, there are areas of the country where it's a piece of fiction. I can live with pistes or roads that are not on the map, or pistes that are now tarmac, but there's no excuse for roads that are actually pistes, and roads that don't exist on the ground.

A bit like Garmin's Morocco Topo GPS map. Goodness knows where some of their fictional roads came from.

@Tim: I'm using the Michelin map now for planning. I'm new to Morocoo. What I notice on this forum that most people are naming the routes (MW6, MA5, MH4, MA3, ...) I don't see those routes on the Michelin map? Or on Olaf's GPS map?
I'm probably overseeing some rediculus details, but I would help me if someone could direct me to the right map!

On http://www.morocco-knowledgebase.net I see you using a code for the routes which you explain. Is there somewhere a map where you can see all the routes? That would make planning a lot easier...

Morocco routes

(MW6, MA5, MH4, MA3, ...) are routes from Chris Scott's "Morocco Overland" book.

Thanks Peter, I ordered the book last week and it should be on the way by now. Looks like an important piece of work :-)

Not to my knowledge. Just sit down with chris's book and 'highlight' your own map.
