Bike Hire - Morocco?

Has anyone hired dirt bikes in Morocco for a few days before?

In an attempt to stall the oncoming winter blues, I'm thinking of taking a week off, flying down to Marrakesh and hire a dirt bike to do a bit of off-road touring for maybe 3 days or so, have a couple of days in Essaoiura then fly back from Marrakesh.

Had a look at some of the guided tour companies and looks like it would cost around £250/day which is a little steep but that does include a guide, equipment etc. Are there any cheaper options?

Most of the hire companies want you to take part in a guided tour. If you want something independent, try Peter at Bikers Home in Ouarzazate.

Bikershome Offroad Center

I have stayed with him twice and he is a really nice guy. Last time I was there he had a couple of KTMs and could always track down other bikes if you need something different.

There is a hire place in Marrakesh called Loc2Roues. I have never hired a bike there so can't comment on their service or bikes.

If you want to ride either Tiz N Test or Tiz N Ticha, it would probably be easiest to hire in Marrakesh. If you want desert / off road, I would head down to Ouarzazate and arrange something with Peter.

cheers

+1 for Bikers Home. Fly into Marrakech and take the bus to Ouarzazate.

Thanks Chaps

Have contacted Bikeshome. Any suggestions for where to get the required 'repatriation insurance' as I'm probably only going hire a bike for a couple of days.

Mike

I had a great stay with Bikerhome who arranged a bike for me . Not sure what you mean by the required repatriation insurance

This is what I got from a different hire company:

Not included:
Support vehicle or staff (we carry our own kit)
Meals
Drinks
Accommodation (Typically 20-30 euros per night)
Medical insurance with repatriation (MANDATORY).

So I was just assuming that the med insurance was mandatory for all bike hire companies. If its not, I may not bother then.

I had a very good experience last november with Loc2roues, right in the center of Marrakech. loc2roues location motos scooters quads marrakech maroc I rented a Suzuki DRZ400 for 3 weeks and had a real great time riding through the south of Marokko. Nice light bike and up to every track you can come up on. The owner is a Frenchman with his wife and they will even help you out in case the bike brakes down.
Have a good ride over there.

Bike Hire - Morocco?

Hi Mike. I can recommend Loc2roues in Marrakech. Nourredine is v helpful and he has a good range of bikes. I have twice hired xr250's at a cost of about 50 euros/day. I had hoped to hire off him again next week but he's booked out but managed to get a bike off Atlantique Motos in Agadir so thats another possibility - their prices are similar.

Can I just ask what the deal is with money in Morocco? Sorry, not been since 2001. I haven't used travellers cheques in years but is it worth taking these rather than brining a stash of cash with you? Am not anticipating problems but have bad memories of pickpockets on trains etc last time.

I'm planning on taking some Euros with me, but assume you can just get Dirhams out the hole in the wall using Cirrus etc? Any particular cards to avoid taking etc?

Cheers

I am going to Morocco next week and would like to rent a bike.

What do they ask you to leave as deposit at loc2roues and the other places in Marrakech? Passport or creditcard slip?

I am worried about them wanting my passport :-/

hi all,
i have been trying to email loc2roues (as they seem the cheapest by far for morocco) but there website does not register my email address, just wondering if anyone else had this problem

loc2roues contact details

Hello Will,
I hired a pair of XT660Z Yamahas from Loc2roues in '08, they were really helpful and I would hire from them again. The contact details I have for them from that time may be out of date, but they are:

LOC2ROUES
212 avenue Mohamed V
Galerie ELITE 1ER ETAGE
MARRAKECH

Tél : 00212 24 43 02 94
GSM : 00212 65 13 04 53

When arranging the bikes I could not get through on the phone numbers to start with, so I e-mailed directly to this address and arranged everthing that way:
loc2roues@menara.ma

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Sam

The email address above might well work, but I use loc2roues@gmail.com

I highly recommend Céline and Noureddine.

You should never allow anyone--including hotels--to hang onto your passport for even five minutes. Don't let it leave your sight.

Bike Hire in Marrakech

Hello,
i want to refresh infos about bike hire in Maroc:
One week ago we rented three Honda tornado 250 from Atlantic Motos in Marrakech. Reservation was already made in Mars´16. When we arrived the hirer presented us three hondas in quite bad condition. The hirer knew that we wanted to go into the monntains, and not to the beach. Nevertheless the bikes had SAWA tires with bad or without any profile. An other bike had a gear.-box that badly worked and the stearin bearing dancing in the frame while riding. Brake- lights not working. At all bikes the tripmaster and tachometer were destroid, out of function,
No probleme , told us the guy , don´t worry..it´s only for a week!
???? In Consequence we spend 10 days with rotten bikes, we had six times a flat tire so finally we avoided to use earth- roads. That was actually the reason we came to the Atlas Montains. Sorry-
This bike rental company is absolutly not recommendable!
concerning loc2roues.. i have no info...
