Hello, I'm driving a very small Suzuki 2WD to the south, and right now I'm staying in Rabat waiting for Mauritanian Visa... But now they're having holidays and seems like I have to wait here until next Monday or Tuesday.

My car is not so big but good enough for 2 tires. You're welcome to join me if you're interested. I'm planning to go through Mauritania and all the way to Ghana.

Currently staying at Hotel Splendid (N33°58.830 W006°49.852) in central Rabat. It's quite inexpensive (125DH) and they have paid parking (20DH/night) in front of the entrance. They have free WiFi too.

Please confirm location of Hotel Splendid, I had thought it to be 8 Rue Ghazza, N34 degrees 1.260 min, W6 degrees 50.218 min.

I am planning trip for next year or so and would be grateful of confirmation.

Good Luck in Ghana which I have known for 46 years.

Peter

OMG! I'm sorry for the mistake! The GPS point was for Mauritanian Embassy! Let me make correction. You can confirm this location with Google search.

Hotel Splendid: N34°01.252 W006°50.213
Mauritanian Embassy: N33°58.830 W006°49.85

Here's also Google Map link for "Hotel Splendid" in Rabat. The location is exactly correct. (If you have Lonely Planet Morocco, it's shown on their map too)

Mauritanian Visa Info

Hi Darius, Good to hear that you've found someone to go with!
#I was lucky to get a Mauri visa on Friday, so today I moved to Marrakech:-)

When you go to Rabat, Hotel Splendid and Mauritanian Embassy is just 4.5km away, just go straight a big road called Avenue Mohammad V.

The Mauri Embassy opens 9:00am. If you go early in the morning, you'll have chance to get your visa within the same day. If not, be patient...

You need passport, a copy of passport, 340DH, 2 photos. (There's a photo booth at the supermarket just 3min walk from the embassy. 20DH)
The visa is valid for 1 month, from the date you applied.... (If you want longer visa, you have to pay more.)

Good luck for you too! Hope to see you somewhere on the road!

hey omnipot,
are ther any longer visas issued at the mauri embassy? 1 months isnt enough for us...
cheers
