Almeria Ferry
 

Although we are unsure which route to take, it does seem likely that we won't go all the way down to Algericas.

However, I am having no luck finding a website with next years ferries - with prices, and schedules.

Does anyone have a link?

Almeria to Nador ferry Crossing - Ferries from Almeria to Nador

From Almeria you can take a boat to Melille ( spanish part ) or nador.
I beleive one boat leave each night aroun 10PM

There's one from Almeria for Nador daily at 10am gets in 5pm local. And one comes back daily from Nador (and Melilia too maybe) at 10pm for 6am local which saves a night in a hotel. Plus others at at 3pm both ways.

No need to book in advance; just buy at the port and drive on. My bike was 101 euros out and 1360 dh back overnight - (+ they gave me a free cabin). Food is expensive on this run - like UK ferries.

In or out, Nador (or 'Beni Enzar' actually few kms north of Nador town) is a relaxed port and me, I quite enjoy sitting on a boat for a few hours after belting across Spain or north Maroc.
Although I didn't use it, on the way back I noticed an AXA Assurance at the Melillia Frontier/Beni Enzar port roundabout.

All these do Almeria - Nador but don't know if they have next year's times yet. (they won't change). I'm not sure which ones I used.

Ferry Maroc and tramediterranea operate the same boat. We paid ( 3 weeks ago ) 118€ (one way) each for the bike and a cabin for both of us. Not necessary to book.
It is very useful, for go and return we left around 11pm, and we arrived the morning ready to start.

I had found the ferry sites - but I didn't realise people mainly travelled without booking.

Just weighing up car options at the moment - both different, both interesting, both RWD, both 180BHP+

Just back from Morocco and travelled that route TO Morocco. Came back via Ceuta-Algerciras.
We took the slow midnight TRANSMEDITERRANEA ferry as there was no 10am service running on Wednesdays. It was €160.00 each for the bike and a clean tidy cabin that had a shower and bog. Didn't book but got to the port office at 6pm to buy the tickets. Got in about 8am local time giving us all day to get through the officialdom at the border which took about 2.5 hours. Touts were pretty laid back once you told them you could could manage yourself. Any doubts about form filling just ask an official who will put you straight. Didn't have any insurance so once through the border stopped at the AXA office just left by the first roundabout (as suggested by Chris Scott). They don't do it but sent us 200m further down to the Beni Enzar Port. Turn left into Port Maritime (not straight on into the commercial port as we did). Just to the right next to the Police Office are 2 cabins. Both sell Assurance Frontiers. They were unoccupied but had phone numbers pasted on the doors. The first didn't answer but the second did. A really friendly guy materialized 30 minutes later and we did the paperwork. Paid 620 Dirhams (in Euros) for 10 days cover. Got down to Midelt for the end of our first day. Highly recommend this route into Morocco although Nador was a dump to ride through.
