Forgot to say, I have seen some places advertised in Portugal and Italy that would have paid you a wage as well. You need to contact these well ahead, which is why they don't suit me. Then again you would be better off just finding a job as a waiter and earn a good wage plus tips.

This is excellent. Thanks for posting the link. It opens up all sorts of possibilities such as taking a break mid-tour with minimal costs as well as recruiting help to work on our own renovation in France.

getting bed and food, for free.

Hi everyone,

There is another system in place here in Australia, also in Japan and some european countries like Germany, Italy aso. WWOOF Australia Official Website, just check out their website. We had many wwoofers on our farm, from all over the world.
No money is involved, that's why the ATO is not concerned. The youngest one was 18, the oldest 64 years of age. Some stayed for a few days, one girl from Japan stayed for four month and became a family member. Normally they help, don't use the word work, for 4 to 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, not seven. Get 3 meals a day and accommodation. Membership is about $ 60.00 annually, you will get a book where all the host families in the different australian Staat's are listed. All further arrangements are between you and the Host. Everything is possible, one pair who met each other at our place, got married recently.
Why not doing a bit of extra for a tank full of petrol, lot of things are happening in small units around the world, you would be in the middle of one. Despite the intensity of pure cultural exchange and possible language school. Worth while looking into.
Good luck
Helgo

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
