another good way is to find bargains and resell them. I don't want to give too much away but I've come across a very nice on-the-side project at the moment (a legal one!)

Car boot sales

It may be obvious, but we are starting the countdown till we go and have gone to two car boot sales and starting to put stuff onto ebay.

We're at £300 for stuff we wouldn't even notice. And it's very liberating and should be the start of any 'life changing' trip. Sell all the sh1t that has been tying you down.

And, as long as it doesn't rain they are actually great fun. Honest!

Another good tip is to put all your pound coins(substitute for dollar/euro/etc....at will) into a tin at the end of each day.My partner and i have been doing so for the last year and so far we're up to £2000+.

i do something similar, i have a greek urn moneypot that you have to smash when its full (for good luck, the greeks are into smashing pottery!)
i only put £2coins in them and they pay for 2 holidays or a bike trip every year.
its surprising how muh loose change you have in your pockets some days

Stop drinking for a year. Not going to tell how much I saved - you can do your own sums - but £20 per week is a £1,000.

I sometimes buy £50 worth of euros when the rate is good but not at the moment

I also use the loose change idea but be careful a friend had his large whiskey bottle nicked durring a break in. He said he put notes and everything in it and I think he got £500 back from the insurance. I guess he probably had over 2 grands worth in there.

I now bank our jar once a month.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
