Hubbers with work for Hubbers!!!
 

Do you manage a business that might need a extra hand once in a while, do you own a property that needs some refurbishment or a boat that needs a lick of paint, a tree that needs to be cut and chopped into firewood, a motorcycle that needs a service, or anything else which could translate into money for fellow hubbers? Why not post it here?

Maybe you can offer something steady, or maybe you can only offer a day's work or two by chance? Maybe you can only offer room and board in return for a helping hand? It just might be what your fellow hubber needs!

So, let me be first one out...


Work in Norway?:

I am frequently in the need for some help with my house and garden, from someone handy. The projects are usually small and short, and my needs are not steady or regular (but more probable during the motocycle season). I can't pay top dollar... Sometimes I may be able to offer free room and board in adition to a bit of cash in hand, sometimes only one or the other, and often neither - but it might be worth while to check. Its not much, I know, but it might help you cut your expenses and help you on your way...

I recide 20 minutes west of Oslo. Send me a PM - maybe I can help, or maybe I know of someone that can.


So, how legal is this? To my knowledge, this is approximately what the law says in Norway:

A private household can legally employ a set of helping hands for up to NOK 4.000,-/per year (approx €500,-) witout having to report it or fill out any forms... and it is excempt taxes. This limit is per person, and in total can not exceed NOK 60.000,-/year for the houshold in total (approx €7.500,-), meaning that a household can employ many people as long as none make more than NOK 4.000,-. The precondition is that whoever the household employs is not a professional (does not have the tasks as their means of living), and that the employer has to check that the person employed has the necessary work or recidency permit...

Hi man cool Idea unfortunatly something like this would be illegal in germany but i might come to visit you one day :)

It is free flow of work, labor, capital, goods and services, within the EU (or EMU). Any EU (or EMU) citizen is as far as I know allowed to move freely to any other membership country to take work. Further, as far as I know, an EU citizen (or EMU) would be able to work for up to three months in another member country without a work permit and be allowed to be a work applicant for up to six months without the need for an approved recidency... Including Germany. Other Unions may have similar laws...

There may or may not be local laws governing tax excemptions, etc, that are similar to those of norway. But I am fairly confident that most countries within the EU has something similar. I take however no responsability for any of my statements and urge each and all to check for themselves.

Martyboy and ta-rider, why don't you look into what the law says in your countries and share it here - maybe there is opportunity for you or fellow riders in your country to offer some hubbers that fit the profile a bit of work, entirely legal, and without any complicating red tape?

I am quite confident that each and all of us, regardless where we live in the world, would legally be able to employ someone from atleast some other countries without too much hassle. Further, for many, the risk or consequences of bending or braking the law a tiny bit may be very low.

That much said, I can't, or don't want to, influence anyone to brake or bend the law even the tiniest bit... I leave it entirely up to each and all to decide how law abiding they want to be. My point is, there is probably no need to brake any laws in order to offer at least some hubbers from some particular countries a bit of work as long as they meet some sort of local criteria.

and as for as I know, nowbody in the world can forbid you to help a friend and for shure nobody can forbid you to give some food and a shelter to somebody.

It's like Help Exchange: free volunteer work exchange abroad Australia New Zealand Canada Europe but more specific to hubbers... :thumbup1:

Hopefully the powers that be can make it a sticky..

Or maybe even an own forum... I think "Hubb Help Exchange" could be a suitable name.

Making travel money

I think this is a great idea and brilliant if it could have its own place on the forum please.

This is me, this is me! I have a cabin two hours north of Santiago, Chile, overlooking the Pacific Ocean (5 star view) and always in need of help in exchange for a place to stay!

If anyone needs a hard working employee in the UK until summer, I'd definitely offer my services. I can't promise I'll have experience or knowledge in the sector, but I'd definitely give it my best.
