Urgent: Carnet de Passage for Syria. Can I go without it?

Hi guys

going from London to Syria in July and really need help from you.
Is there a way to drive to Syria without Carnet? It is so ridiculously expensive that I would really prefer to go without it.

Please share your experiences, if you know, what to do.

Big thanks in advance :thumbup1:

No problem, on border you'll pay some taxes and you're :welcome: to Syria.

If all goes well, we will be riding Saudi - Jordan - Syria - Turkey and back all the way to Saudi and i have decided not to get me self a carnet for Syria & Jordan, primarily after reading a lot about the topic on this forum.

cheers

You don't need a "carnet du passage" for Syria and Jordan!
A temporary permit can be issued at the border.
Costs are:
Syria - 78$ (for 4WD) (must be paid at every entrance:nono:) and inssurance 50$ (valid for 1 month). Diesel tax: 100$/week.
Jordan - 20 JD (same in euro) and another 20 JD inssurance.
