UAE - Abu Dhabi

Does anyone know if there is a motorcycle tour company oppertating out of Abu Dhabi, or if bike rental is available.

Im travelling there in December, but not there long enough to make it worth having my bike shipped.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Harley-Davidson offer a "TRY BEFORE YOU FLY" rental, apparently aimed at prospective owners. Have a look at their web site to see what the required documentation is.

If the service is not available in AD, it's not that far to Dubai to arrange it.

PS See other threads on here for Dubai bike rental.

The Harley shop on the corner of Salaam St and Passport Rd hires bikes. They have a price list on the counter. Pretty reasonable prices too. The South African bloke who runs the joint, Rennie, is also a good guy and the best bike mechanic in Abu Dhabi. He is involved in the bike racing scene if that takes your fancy but there isn't much in the way of touring around AD. There are the sand dunes at Liwa but very little else. You might also pick up a cheap bike (600 sports bikes mostly) in the Hiltonia carpark on the corner of the road out to Marina Mall. The rich kids thrash their bikes, get bored with them, and occasionally sell them for a song from this carpark. But the Harley shop is the only real bike shop in AD (ie staffed by bike riders not clueless sales eggs), and a good place to start if you need wheels for a short time.

cheers, Brett

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
