Syria - Temporary import fee
Hi,
I will be leaving the UK within the week for my ride to Syria. I have a multiple entry visa for Syria stamped into my passport but I have no carnet. I have been reading a lot on here about tax's, import fee's, visa's etc etc and all of the threads and posts match on the amount the fee's cost. However I did stumble across one thread where the chap wrote that he did not have a carnet and so had to pay for a temporary import fee.... but as he tried to leave the country was told he had to pay 10 Euro's for everyday spent in the country!!! As this has not been mentioned on anyone else's thread I am really curious as to what everyone else's views, experiences and thoughts are on this? As im hoping to stay there a while and am leaving soon! Thanks in advance guys Much appreciated Andy |

Syria costs
Hi entered Syria last week, temp import charge 80euro (3750 syp on document) 1000syp for insurance and a number of 100`sfor stamps & hoto copies. Will exit either tomorrow or Saturday so will advise asap on exit costs (everyone pays 500syp to exit as I did into Jordon) Paul

I just paid 10 euros and stayed in Syria five days. I think it doesn't depend on the number of days you are in the country, it's always the same. Really I don't know the reason because I had to pay it.
To be taken into account: credit card and turkish money are not accepted, only syrian money, euro or dollars. Getting out of the country is much easier than entering. Good luck. |

Tarzan, I entered Syria (Akçakale entrance) without carnet with no problem.
At the entrance, I can remember exactly, but I paid something similar as mentioned by Paul13 above. With the carnet I'd have saved the temporary permit costs and the 40 minutes waiting wihile the official fills the papers. At the exit I paid about 10 euros (I don't know what tax was that).
