Question Need INFO: Egypt / Jordan Motorcycle Tours

Hi, I'm trying to plan a trip to Egypt and Jordan for about 13 days..and was thinking I'd hire a motorcycle tour group..any suggestions? This trip is for two,a couple, only one bike. I'm trying to plan this in October 2011. I'd love some feedback on which tour agency, pro/con's, is this possible to do as a self guided, or do I need a guided tour, is it safe? Please help. I'd also be interested in any advice on scuba diving in the area or other interesteing facts...thanks in advance.

Oh, Yes, I'm a current BMW rider...K1200GT

Egypt rental.. well

You may be able to book rides to the Black and the White deserts from Al-Bahareya (400 km SW of Cairo), there is a guy called Amin at Peters' hotel organizing overnight desert tours on Suzukis DRZ400 in good conditions.

There's also a possibility to rent a KTMs in Sharm El-Sheikh (though rather old bikes from my observation of last year), pls ktmegyptcallingdakar - desert tour*Sharm*el*Sheikh*/*KTM bikes*for hire The owner is trying to revitalize the business in trying circumstances. Renting KTM bikes for a few hours is expensive but they provide all the gear. No overnight expeditions at the latest news.

Apart from that, there's this guy offering tours, never seen or tried but he seems serious: Long Range Travel

Harley Davidson Egypt (Mohandissen and Zamalek) does not rent bikes, unfortunately.

But are you sure you want to ride a bike in Egypt, even in Cairo? Unless you come specifically for desert riding, I'd recommend renting a car, it's by all means safer, more comfortable in the heat and convenient on highways between points of interest. Just don't forget your driving skills at home!

Scuba diving: Marsa Alam is apparently not yet damaged.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
