Sorry I forgot to mention I will be driving the route so a Train is not a option. I will be taking my own car. Also although I can get escort I am unsure if it better with or without as I look asian I also have a NADRA ID card for pakistan as both my parents are pakistani. ( i am born an bred in the uk)

I was thinking If I can blend in as local person then I would have the least amount of problems but thats in theory unsure how it will be in reallity. Also the area where the swiss couple got kidnapped was Lolarai, is that a no go area for locals an police?

Thanks for this info, It will me much harder for me as I am looking to use a car instead of bike. I was hoping to find someone who has done it already to see how it worked out for them, My main concern is shipping the car over and then custom being corrupt and make me pay large amounts of money for the release of my vehicle!

Oh, I see. Driving to Pakistan from Europe can be a fantastic experience. I did it twice in the eighties and still cherish its memories. Dont miss it.

I would suggest you to take it easy and drive accross if your name isnt highly suggestive of your sect. Lately the problems seem to be arising out of communal problems and Shias appear to be on the receiving end.

We tried to drive last year to Fort Monroe from Multan and were checked many times. Local officials discouraged us and denied flatly Canadian friend working in Pakistan. Poor guy had to go back. Loralai is a few hundred kms further ahead.

Driving in Balochistan might have risks with law and order or terrorism but greater risk is with the traffic, might be worth taking.

Thanks Omar,

My uncles did this in the 70's which whats inspired me, my name is not suggestive at all and If dress like a locals in each area I pass I should be able to pass by easily. Who knows. Thanks for your advice.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
