Sea crossing Bandar Abbas to Sharjah

Crossed on 20/6. with shipping co Valfajr.Process not too difficult but be prepared for 4 or 5 hours of beurocracy.
Costs,
Bike 200 USD + 65 USD for bill of lading
Passenger 100 USD (80000 Rials)
Use of port facilities (100000 Rials)

Shipping company fairly affable to deal with on the phone and at their offices. e-mails that were answered from Tehran were not too accurate regarding prices, had the impression that there may be a bit of flexibility in the charges.
I bought the ticket the day before departure and went to the port the next morning. It is difficult to explain the process as everything is in Farsi and little English is spoken but because of the friendliness of the Iranian people help is always at hand. There is a lot of photocopying of passport, carnet etc but there is a small office right there.I was lucky because I got help from a couple of guys the second one was travelling on the same boat with a car and he literally led me from office to office. For some strange reason the port charges (100000Rials ) had to be paid by credit card and foriegn cards are not accepted.
Although there is a hell of a lot of coming and going it is doable and the discipline of the local people means that there is not too much shoving and pushing in.
Paperwork was completed by about 1pm and I was allowed to put the bike on the boat (RORO),and was told to be back about 7pm.
The embarcation was well ordered even though the foot passengers (mostly traders and migrant workers)were well loaded with foodstuff, once again nobody was allowed to push in.

Be aware that the nearer the front to get on the boat means the furthest from the toilets on the boat!!!! enough said except I recomend immodium before the journey.
A basic chicken and rice meal is provided in the price.

Arrival at Sharjah is not too harrowing ( if you're not Iranian).Once the immigration procedures are gone through and the sniffer dog is finished the bike customs clearance formalities can start. There are some costs but nothing exessive.Everybody speaks English and are helpful if you keep a smile on your face.I was done in a couple of hours.
Insurance was not mentioned nor asked for and is not easy to find.It is available however from a local company but is not cheap at 600DHMs for a month.Salik (the road toll) is also purchasable from the garages although it is debatable whether bikes get caught for this.

One more point is that the shipping costs can be deferred till arrival in UAE and there is access to ATMs.
