Hi,

Yes I did cross into jordan at Al Qurayat.
I left Saudi in '03 but a guy i whose been out there 17-20 years had travelled many times back to Romania. But he preferred to transport his bike upto Turaif and catch an internal flight up there, and start riding from there.
I've heard that the Red Sea coast road is beautiful.
I put the bike on a roll on-roll off ferry at the port of Izmir (western Turkey) using viamare.com It was not expensive and i opted for sleeping on the deck, although i went indoors when it got a little chilly at night. I disembarked at Bari (Southern Italy) in the morning and drove north along the toll roads. I arrived at Torino by nightfall. The following day i crossed into France and drove all day and reached London by approx 10pm.

Kuwait is vastly different to Riyadh, but i guess it would be a lot like Jeddah or Dammam, except there are a lot of bikers here and large motorcycle dealers, which is reassuring when requiring parts.

Regards

same thing here Ian! :stormy:
Eventhough all (well almost everybody in Malaysia) rides a small bike :scooter:, but they only use it for commuting. Not for serious overland travel. Doing an average 350km was already considered "GREAT" distance!
my wife doesnt really say anything when I told her Im planning for a
road-trip to Saudi. But when mums a relatives heard about this Im sure its going to be a big fuss:funmeterno:

Hi,
I want to ride all the way and only have to cross the English channel. I'm looking at Jordan,Syria,Turkey,Bulgaria, across to the Adriatic and follow the coast road up to Venice then across the Alps into France to the channel tunnel.
I have ridden up the red sea coast road and was disapointed, it's very flat and you don't see much of the sea. I had to divert over the mountains once through Taif down to Khamis Mushayt, now that is a great road and brilliant views. Have spent twelve years at Khamis and the scenery in the mountains and down to the red sea is great:funmeteryes: , now I'm in F***ing :censored: Dhahran and have to find roads with roundabouts to make a ride slightly interesting. It would make life better if we could ride over to Bahrain but they won't let bikes on the causway, you can only trailer them across.
Is it worth a ride into Kuwait ? Is it easy to get in ?
Some of us are going to the Moto GP in Qatar, it's supposed to be a floodlit night race :eek3: .

Cheers
Ian :thumbup1:
