Pakistan visas
 

:clap:just been on the website of Pak embassy london. Do they really require such things as reference from workplace, itinary etc in order to process visa? anybody done this recently?:confused1:

Hi, I just gave them a rough travel plan on the form, didn't give them anything from work (because I'd finished work). I got mine in Manchester, handed forms in on the morning and picked up after 4pm. Easy

I got denied a visa 3 months ago in London from the Pakistani Embassy, so if you can get it anywhere else, do it.

As a Greek citizen it was easier for me to get it in Athens. I had to provide proof of funds (bank account details), a rough itinerary, proof of travel insurance AND a letter of invitation by a Pakistani friend.

Don't apply in London, ours were turned down but I insisted so they sent the application to Islamabad, still came back not approved.
Went to the Birmingham consulate, processed in the same day, I had a loi from Lost Horizon Treks and Tours - trekking, tours, and travel in the Northern Areas of Pakistan Ty will email you a letter to take to the consulate, be as vague as you can on the form about traveling overland, in that I mean don't put down that I will travel across the Balochistan desert on route to Multan etc. If you don't mention it they wont ask. Just make out you are doing some trekking, there is nothing on the visa that says what you are doing and how you are doing it.

TO MCGIGGLE. cheers for the sound info. another question: we intend to ride back thro Pakistan about 6 months later. Any advice about how to apply for a second visa outside of the UK to travel back thro the country? will check out your website. :thumbup1:

Funny you should ask that question, we were going to do the same and come back through Pakistan but are now looking into shipping by sea, us and the bikes to UAE from Mumbai then around Oman,Yemen,UAE, ferry to Iran. I think it is possible to get visa from India but not sure which embassy/consulate would be best and obviously a lot of things can/will change while your away so the info you get now could go straight out of the window in 6 months time.

Some people have written earlier that if you're going into Pakistan from the Indian side it would be easier applying in Nepal. Is this true?

You might be referring to my experience, if so this was because as a UK citizen, Bangkok wouldn't give me a Pak visa, instead telling me I needed to get it while still in the UK...

However I'm pretty sure someone else on here managed to get theirs in B'kok. The twat serving me must have had a day off.

just collected PK visa in Iran and what we had to do to get it...
 

on a British passport.
just went to the PK embassy in Tehran Iran and collected our PK visa within 2 working days.the information we provided was

• a copy of each visa in our passport (this was a big job as we have 66 visa stamps!) however on the 2nd form of the application they just wanted details of the last 5 countries.
• 3 passport photos (2 for the main application 1 for the other small form)
• Details of route and details of hotels/hostels to also include full address and tel numbers. (just got these via LP forum thorntree)
• names and address of two people who will 'verify' you should it be required - as a British citizen these must be people with a UK address (we were told family and/or friends were OK to put down)
• just needed to include details of our 'employment' in the UK, title of position, name of company, address and Tel number (no letter from company verifying employment was required or requested).
• and finally a Letter of Recommendation from the British Embassy here in Tehran.
• we also supplied a further bundle of letters from GWR and the charities that we raise funds for in order to prove that we really really needed to get into and across Pakistan (all real and official letters not just made up for the application just incase you were wondering!)

We were worried about getting the letter from the British Embassy as we had read all of the posts before - but we needn't have worried. Went straight into the British Embassy, girl said 'fine, no problems' and did the letter for us straight away. We paid the 36 GBP (she very kindly put us both on one letter as we are married) - all done and dusted within the hour.

Went back to the PK embassy - had to wait until after the weekend which is Thursday and Friday here - handed in and had a small 'interview'..really just a nice chat with the Consul guy and were told to pick up payment slip the following day. which we did, paid the 730,000 Iranian Rials (about $73 each) and picked it up on the same day at 4pm.

Obviously things change all the time..so when the next person applies here in Tehran it could all be totally different. But we hope this helps.

Pakistan will be the 67th country we will visit.... here we come!!

first post so bear with me! Just wondered how you got on. I rang Manchester consulate today to ask if they would issue visa for overland travel (without loi) but was told to I would have to apply to London.I need to apply soon but don't know quite what is best way.:confused2:

Has anyone thought about getting the visa at the border :thumbup1:

you will get 30days for 30usd very easily at Sost(kunjerab) and if that is not enough for you you can extend in Gilgit :clap: ,

pretty sure you can get a visa at the Wagah border between India and Pakistan, not sure about Iran-pakistan border..

Visa is definitely NOT available at the Taftan or Wagah borders. Only Sost.
