Oman - Yemen - Djibouti - by car
After Xmas we are going to try and cross from Oman to Yemen, then get a cargo boat over the red sea to Djibouti. As it seems this is possible by mbike (the shipping part) does anyone know any reason why it wouldnt be possible by car as well? Cargo boats not big enough - no cranes etc. ??
Also it seems you need a permit for travel on the Oman / Sa'naa road, and maybe police escort. Easy to sort the other way (i.e arrange in Sa'naa) - but would this be possible to arrange at the border?? Any info, ideas, contacts such as a tourist agency in Yemen who may be able to help would be greatly appreciated! Info on this route (country! - apart from on this site) is scarce!

ferry
On other areas of the Red Sea, there use drive on ferry's. I would assume it would be the same for this route too, but haven't taken it personally.
