Labour/parts cost in Amman

Hi,

Currently in Amman after our Land Rover defender overheated in Aqaba. It's looking like we may have just escaped blowing the head gasket but the radiator has sprung a number of impressive leaks (maybe due to an airlock and pressure build up?). I was just wondering if anybody had any experience of labour or parts costs in Amman, or could recommend a good garage/mechanic as we don't really know what ballpark we're in.

Also anyone know if its possible to get hold of a new radiator in Jordan? We're being told no but would rather replace than patch up.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Hi Matt,

your inquiry is 3 days old and hopefully you already found help. If not: there is a german school in Amman, the Theodor Schneller Schule. It is situated just a few meters off the main Toyota dealer in Amman on the other side of the main road (King Abdallah I). The school has a garage where they qualify local kids as mechanics and are very helpful. Although it's a german institution, english is the common language.

The school even has a guest house and place for a few cars to park near the guest house. We stayed in our 4x4s and used the facilities of the guest house (picture here).

GPS coordinates: N32°0.164'; E36°0.502'

Schneller-School, P.O.B. 340649, Amman 11134. Tel. (009625) 3616103, Fax (009625) 3612767

HTH, Hans

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
