Iran with a visit to Egypt in passport

I've read on the wikitravel website that if you've been to Israel or one of it's bordering countries(Jordan/Egypt) they will not allow you into Iran, can anyone confirm or dismiss this please?

If you've got an Israeli stamp or have an Egyptian/Jordanian entry/exit stamp at a landborder coming from/going to Israel, they won't let you into Iran nor issue a visa.

However, if you just flew into Sharm el Sheik or Cairo or any other Egyptian or Jordanian airport, then I can't see any problem. Same if you took a ferry from Aqaba to Egyptian Sinai (that many people use to avoid Israel).

2nd passport

the old story...

it's always a good idea to carry a 2nd passport !

Israel / Egypt, Cuba / USA, Iran / Israel, USA / Iran, and vice versa... probably more to add.

as a golden role and easy to remember... Israel and the USA are the last famous nation's you want a visa stamp in to your passport, only calling for trouble... any other government/regime elsewhere in the world is going on quite well and tolerate each other, but this two are a big exception.... with there non existent diplomatic skills :taz: .... doh

2nd passport if you can't avoid it... !!

and yes as Chris is pointing out... the Iran would not issue a visa, they wouldn't even tell you why you are being rejected....
Same as the USA if you turn up with a visa stamp from Cuba... you would be called in favour with and befriended with the enemy, and therefore not welcomed !
in that case you may enjoy a rather strange, longish interview by some large buggers at the airport, who got no sense of humour at all, only allow you to answer, "yes Sir" or "no Sir", meanwhile all your electronic devices being copied or confiscated, missing your connection flight if finally let loose and be send home instead if you been cooperative, dizzily waking up with an impression that all that must have been a bad dream... while the Iran visa issuer on the other hand may just ask you very polity to go away and to bugger off....

Last year toured Iran with an Egypt visa and stamps in my Australian passport and experienced no problem getting an Iranian visa or at border. Entry and exit of Egypt had been via Cairo airport.

Similarly no problem entering USA 2 weeks ago with the Iranian visa in my passport.

Great Thanks. I'm not bothered about ever going to USA
I've been to Cuba and have an Egyptian stamp but it's not a borded one. Thanks for the answers

Passports

I work in the Middle East and the one golden rule is that if you have to visit Isreal then ask for your passport not to be stamped and to issue a paper entry visa. Usualy they will ask you if you want a stamp or visa it just depends so as you hand over your passport ask first, they do not get upset and are well used to it.
I had to travel by road from Jordan into Isreal which is interesting had no problems at either end just had to use the local bus to do the crossing.

If you can then get a second passport so that you can limit visability of your entry stamps then do so but remember that you have to use the same passport to enter and exit do not mix them up.

Good luck:clap:

It's fine, you can travel to Iran with an Egyptian visa on your passport.

My parents who live in Egypt have traveled to Iran 2 years ago and everything was fine..

I was in Egypt in 2009 and the year after in Iran with the same passport. No problem at all!
