The gulf region & Iran Is safe place for travelers

I have been off roader all my life. In fact I was born in the middle east and I did spent great deal of my life traveling all over the region and north & sub sahara Africa.

The region enjoy a great & more civilized infrastructure like ports, airports and high ways etc. The sahara areas are very safe and secure and have a very friendly people with high moral ground.

I would advise every one to take a look at this part of the world for expedition and sahara activities. It has a great deserts with many history behind it back dated to pre civilization age, passing by judico - Chrisendom - Islamic civilizations.

I believe people who love exploring the world woud feel comfortable specially headache free & worry free of abductions. nothing is really worth the risk.

When I travel to the sahara I have one objective, I like to enjoy the sight seenery, enjoy the mother nature challeng Of surviving & navigation through out the unknown or unfamiliar routs.

I leave all of you with famous Egyption writer statement:

" call me unbrave man a thousand times, but do not say he was a brave man whom he died"

For sahara riders I would list the countries I prefer from variety of desert land scape, formations, beauty and big size as follow:

1- Saudi Arabia, big overland with mountains and heavy sand dunes..empty quarter.

2- Iran is a beautiful country with nice landscape, not much of dunes. Stay away from the east borders with Pakastan & afganstan..to much border trafficing and bandits.

3- Oman is great place indeed.

4- Emirates, I a, sure every one is familiar with this country.

The best time to travel for nice weather conditions is October - April at max the heat session wil start at April.

Great promotion, Matureworld. If promotion is being made, I suppose all the other aspects for travelling are cleared, so I would appreciate some useful info as far as Saudi tourist visa for independent travellers is concerned.

Thanks and best wishes!

Hi desersoul,

I was not prometting statement in fact, but rather showing every one here an alternative option to African sahara travelers, specially the horror stories and the lost of many people lives we hear in recent years in Africa which I feel sorry for local communities and travelers as will. Africa will be more unstable place for many years to come coz economic & security conditions are deteriorating. Kidnaping becoming an industry lately where poverty and corpations are a driving force behind such tragedy.

In relationship to your question, visa is open with tour opreators and the possibilty of tailored travel plans are possible. Business visa are open and you couod travel in your own any where.

Good luck.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
