Ferry from Iran to India?

We're thinking about avoiding Pakistan and going directly from Iran (Bandar Abbas) to India, preferably Bombay or even further north. Is there a ferry? What about timetable and prices?

Thank you!

Did you get an answer to this question, as i was thinking of doing the same thing. Also is there a ferry from India to Thailand, to get around Burma and China.
Thanks for any info :thumbup1:

'Fraid not. You have to ship or fly the bike - the latter being preferable.

What's the problem with Pakistan? It only takes a few days to cross. The Burma blockage has been in place for some time - just have to accept it. There are good easy flying options though.

I went from Europe to Thailand last October to January. Was in doubt about the same things, and now I´m almost 100% sure that excluding traffic across the Persian Gulf, there are no international car ferries in that region. They are a thing of the past.

You should be able to ship the bike from Bandar Abbas by ship to Mumbai, or from Tehran by air to Delhi, for example. But that is a hassle. We decided to go to Pakistan, and it wasnt bad at all. But things might´ve changed, so I dont really know how it is nowadays.

East from India, they said in Chennai there had been a ferry (to Penang, Malaysia I think?) in the 80´s, but then it burnt, or sank, or both, so no ferry after that. And Burma is a no-go, but again, there are plenty of options by air or by sea. We opted for air, Chennai->Bangkok, cost roughly 600 euros total for the bike, plus maybe 200 euros per head for our flight tickets. Cheaper to put the bike by sea, but it could easily take 1-2, even 3 weeks, when you count in the processing time at both ends (the sailing itself wont take that long). Air cargo moves much quicker.

Iran to India by ferry

Hi
There is no direct passenger ferry between Iran and india but i am pretty sure there are a couple weekly departures from UAE. you need to check with a UAE based travel company.
But if even there was , you would have to consider you are going to pay tons of money for transfers between Iran to UAE and then UAE to India . Consider the time , ferry tickets, transport costs, customs, then the leg from UAE to Mumbai. That is all too crazy . If i were you i would take the Pakistan route. Just drive up to Mirjaveh, sleep over night . Early morning cross the border and FOLLOW the first bus that goes to Karachi or Quetta.

You be totally fine.

Cheers
Ishmael
