Ferry between S.Arabia and Bahrain

Hi All,

As the King Fahd Causeway is closed for the motorbikes, I am looking for an alternative way to enter Bahrain. Is there any ferry, RoRo or ship which operates between S.Arabia and Bahrain and vice-versa?

Thanks in advance

There is not a ferry service between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Your best bet would be to hire a flat bed truck to take your bike across.

There is a street in Al-Khobar near the corniche where many flat bed trucks gather in hopes of getting hired.

Hi Orson,

Thank you very very much for your reply.
Two more small questions:
1- What is the name of the street where the pick-ups are, and how much will it cost us?
2- Can we find a hotel in Al-Khubar, Dhahran or Al Dammam around $30 per night?

Thanks a lot

I was in Khobar yesterday and passed by the street with all the hire trucks. I asked how much to Bahrain without specifying the cargo and was quoted a price of 700 Saudi Riyals which is about 105 Pounds.

However, this being the Middle East, you're expected to haggle over prices. In fact, they are rather disappointed if you DON'T haggle.

My guess is that you could haggle the price down to 300 or 400 Riyals. There were a lot of idle trucks sitting around so the competition amongst the drivers would be intense.

Thank you very very much for your investigation Orson. Around £150 -return price obviously- is acceptible. We'll see when we arrive.

Thanks again

Unless you have a specific reason for visiting Bahrain, why not continue south to the U.A.E.?

That would save you the trouble of finding a hire truck.

There's not much in Bahrain that you couldn't find in the U.A.E.

Thanks for the advice Orson. As you can see on my web site, I'll come from Iran to UAE stay there for a time and then head to north, Bahrain, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon.

No any specific reason for Bahrain. Just wanna see while I am in the Middle East.

Thanks for advice

Bahrain

Hi Ozhanu,

I have lived in both the UAe and Bahrain and I would recommend a visit to Bahrain its quite small and 'village-like' compared to other Mid East countries and vry friendly. If you do get stuck, for transport, you could try the Bahrain or Dahran Harley Dealer (same owners for both delarships), they are always trailing bikes over the caseway and they are good guys.

If you do go, try a visit to the rugby club and teh Bahrain H-D dealership - Im sure you will get a warm welcome.

I have just started planning atrip from the UAE to Spain so any information you can give me about routes through Syria and or Lebanon and which direction to take after Turkey would be appreciated

Cheers and ride safe.
