Europe to Egypt by sea/land
 

Hi!

I'm planning to go to Egypt without taking the airplane.
I did a lot of research on cargo ships but I didn't find many informations. Many websites are quite old, therefore the informations are not updated at all. I found a few email adresses of cargo ship companies but i still didn't recieve answers from any of them... so please who can help me?

I would like to travel in the beginning of August. Departure maybe from Italy, or Albania or Greece. Arrival maybe Alexandria, or Suez Channel or Israel.
Did you already do a similar trip? Do you have any suggestions?

My suggestion is to read those old threads thoroughlly and carefully, not much has changed.

Expect to pay hefty / arbitrary charges upon entry and brace yourself for police escorts to see stretches of roads. Egypt is no longer an easy place to ride in. It was never an easy place to sail import a vehicle either. It's a great and fascinating country for sure, but also one I'm happy no longer living in at the moment.

Of course, I trust you understand August is hot, so I also suggest to bring a shade.:Beach:

I think the solotion to the security problems in the midle est is 1. large groups - let say above 30-50 bikes
2. goverments corporation
3. cameras - tv or doco shootings
4. local bikers suport
what do you think about it?

I will be very careful, security issue is big problem in the north of Egypt, I went on my motorbike which without carnet and refused entry, had to leave it at Port Said, and spend few days there, gun shoots in ver common, and local police very corrupted, and everyone will look at a big chicken and wants to take big bite of you (money). This sis the only country in the world I wont travel by car or motorbike, also the carnet fee is the highest in the world,,,its 800%
