Dhow from Dubai Creek to Mumbai

Loads of people used to do this years ago. I still see bikes being loaded on when I visit. Eminently doable but ask UAE bikers et al if they have any current info on rules and regs.

The bikes which are being loaded on dhows are just cargo. Second hand hondas seems to be popular.

Dhows from the creek Dubai, Sharsja, port rasheed and even UAQ will not take passengers.

There is a Michael Palin episode where he boards such a dhow from Dubai to Mumbai. But that is over. Dhows are not allowed any longer to take passengers.

You could try from Doha but I doubt you will succeed. Or you can send your bike as cargo and fly to Iran. Doubt it will work but strange things happen.

There is a weekly ferry from port rashid in Dubai to iran though.
Dont know if they will accept passengers but you can try.

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
