Djibuty to Cairo

Hi,
I’m considering crossing from Yemen to Africa (Djibuty?) and riding North along the Red Sea to cross over again from Nuweiba to Al Aqabah in Jordan.
Any advice on routes, border crossings, no go areas, closed borders and petrol availability?
Any help much appreciated, many thanks in advance.

Fernando,
I'm planning a similar route for next January so if you decide to do it I'd love to meet up with you before you set off from Dubai to pick your brains.
Cheers,
Stephan

Of course

Hi Stephan,
I'm arriving on sunday. I'll send you an email to arrange meeting for a beer.
I know a few riders there, Shakeyabooty, Bikerchick, Caleype... Surely you've met some of them. Are there any regular riders gatherings or regular waterholes there?
Re: East Africa-Red Sea coast, I'm not a very good offroad rider (More of a very bad, a 'diver' on sand dunes or mud!) and I want to have an idea of how difficult it will be and what are the logistic and routes. So, plenty to talk. Maybe two beers!

Yes, I know a few of them.
There are regular ride-outs and meeting points as well as a couple of favourite watering holes.
See you at one soon; have a good journey. :)

Hi Fernando/DD - are you back in the UAE and have you picked up your bike from BMW yet?
Give me a shout if you're around and we'll go for a beer.
Cheers,
Peter
