Cairo Bike Storage?

Friends,

I'm hoping to find a safe and secure place to leave my bike in Cairo for a few months - starting in June - until I can return to it and continue the journey. Any thoughts?

Many thanks.

Tony

Hmm. This may be a bit vague... but then even precision information in Cairo is generally useless. But, for what it's worth:

If you begin at the Midan Talaat Harb (home to the Lialy Hostel), walk West towards the Egyptian Museum along Mahmoud Bassiouni. Turn right at the first street past the "Dahab Hostel" and walk north for about a block and a half. You will see a sort of Art studio on your left and whole bunch of derelict vehicles on your right. In spite of how bad the garage looks, it is secure. I parked there for a month and I was only one of several foreigners to keep a vehicle at that location.

I'll try and get the GPS coordinates for you if you like. (I don't have them, but my friend parked there for two months, and I believe he may still have the digits.)

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
