Iran-UAE-Saudi Arabia-Sudan, is it possible?

I'm trying to resume all the info along the Hubb about going from Iran to UAE by ferry, crossing border to Saudi Arabia and taking ferry to Sudan, but it is quite difficult because rules are changing recently in Saudi Arabia. Does any one have good and fresh info about this itinerary that can open son interesting routes to overlanders

I will really be grateful.

Cheers

I was sent a message on another forum (scuba diving) from a friend that pointed out that the Bahrain - Saudi Arabia Causeway was now open to motorcycles. I lamented that whilst that was interesting to hear, the fact that my motorbike is ancient meant that I couldn't take it into Saudi Arabia. I was then informed that for temporary import the age of the vehicle doesn't seem to matter as my friend has seen many, many old vehicles going in across the causeway. There may be hope still of using the route - Iran - UAE - KSA and from there to Sudan or Jordan.

From what I have researched recently this link is possible, except for the 3 Anglophone countries who struggle to get into Iran.

I know they had problems with RHD cars, but foreign motos are more easily ridden in KSA, afaik.

I do consider to take this very route in December so I'm starting to watch the options more closely.

Iran - UAE:
My plan is to take the Bandar Lengeh (Iran) – Dubai (UAE) ferry.
Unfortunately I could not get any status on the availability.
However, I'll keep track: https://caravanistan.com/transport/p...#bandar-lengeh

UAE - Sudan:
Jeddah Suakin Ferry:
This is a valuable Website to get an overview of all the ferry options: https://www.ferrylines.com/en/operat...r-east-africa/
It helped me to find the shipping line I'll contact:
Namma International Marine Services.
DURATION:7h
FREQUENCY: once a week

amajid@nesma.com

We'll see if I can manage to cross over like planned...

Greetings,
Wauschi

A Ro Ro ferry runs permanently between Bandar Abbas and Sharjah. Dont forget to spend time in Oman as it is stunning with excellent modern road system well suited to overland adventure touring. You and your vehicle can cross in and out of UAE with visa at border.Check on Royal Oman Police website before you go for up to date requirements.

The stumbling block now is issuance of visas for Iran and whether they will allow overland travel/land border entry or exit. There is some suggestion that there will be a requirement for people to be fully vaccinated.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
