Beginner to riding in Dubai!

Hi everyone

I have recently passed my motorbike test here in Dubai! Wow - it was so difficult and all of 5minutes long!!

It was a very amusing experience but I still feel I need more practice to gain confidence, especially on these crazy roads.

Can anyone give me any tips/advice on riding in the UAE, especially for a newcomer to bikes? Or does anyone know of any absolute beginners like me?

I've been driving here and Oman for 7 years but don't think I'm ready for SZRoad on a bike just yet!.

Cheers
Lou

Yes, I am.
BTW It might be a bit fraught riding around Sharjah & Dubai but I haven't been hit yet. I got driven into by a stationary car pulling into traffic from the opposite side of the road in sleepy Grantham last month!

First timer...

hi guys.... i'm going to be visiting your country next week. Can you give me any tips where to rent a motorcycle and where i should ride. I would like to do just day trips as my girlfriend will be attending a dental conference and she wants me to be around for supper. I'm staying at the AL QSAR for a week starting Oct 22 tll the 28 then at the Sofitel for the next 10 days.... If you guys would also be interested in hooking up with a fellow rider from Canada that would be great too.

Hope you guys get to read this post before i leave from Montreal...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
