Bmw Service in Egypt.

Hello riders. I am in Jordan at the moment but in 3-4 days I will visit Egypt via Aqaba. I wanted to know if there is a bmw motorcycle service in Cairo or in Alexandria. I need a spare part.
If there isn't anything, which is the best way to receive a part from home? Something small ofcouse. Thank you in advance. Nicolas.

There isn't a BMW bike agent as there aren't any BMW bikes. There are car agents though.
However there is a guy who has a motorbike workshop for big bikes who sorts out most stuff for riders coming through Cairo.
I've got his details somewhere I think if I can find them. I've just had a quick look and I've got directions for him for now -

The workshop is in an alley off Le Corniche (north bound) on the right just after Mercedes Benz. (GPS: N30deg01,289 E31deg13,825). Arriving from Suez, take the ring road south. Immediately before the Nile take the junction north onto the El-Corniche. Follow this for a while and over a steel bridge. At the other end of the bridge you will see a mercedes benz dealer and a little further a VW dealer on the right. Just after this and immediately before the road sign to the Citadel there is a small alleyway to the right. Anwar's workshop is just down this alleyway. Opens from 12:00pm

From the roundabout in front of the museum and hilton, head southwest. You will intersect after a couple of blocks with the Corniche -RIVER FRONT ROAD- and the Shepard Hotel will be on your left. Drive south along the Cornish for about five minutes, passing the Four Seasons until you get to a fair sized roundabout. You will know this is the correct roundabout as there is a large wall remaining fromn ancient times and this road has signs that say -CITADEL-. The bike shop is located behind the south east corner but you have to access from the other side of the road. To do so, dirve straight for a couple of minutes and stay in the right hand lane. You will see the road ride up into an overpass but stay right and loop back underneath to u-turn. As you come back north, you will pass a vw dealer and a mercedes dealer. Just before the right hand turn at the rounabout, there is a sign that says -CITADEL. The alley way to his shop is immediately under this sign.

Cairo - Mohammed Anwar Workshop
This could be a double post as someone has reported it in workshops around the world but here is more specific information.

Before leaving the UK I contacted the "Cairo Community" and made contact with Jonathan Giesen. While heading through Syria our engine started developing engine knock so we contacted Jonathan but he was in New York and gave us a telphone number of his friend Mohammed to phone when we got to Cairo. Arriving at Salma Camp (which is a dump) we contacted Mohammed who collected us and escorted us to Mohammed Anwar's workshop.

All bikers in Cairo, and Egypt, regard Anwar as the best in the business and the passionate way in which he worked on our bikes I would believe it. Anwar works from Noon till midnight and there are bikers and mates in and out of the workshop every evening for the regular social gathering.

So even if you don't need any work done then just pop by and say hello.

Anwar does a excellent job and really knows bikes in and out and has very very reasonable rates.

Hello onlyMark and thank you very much for the information. But I need a sensor that broke so I would be interested to find that part and put it on the bike. That crap electric problems... Egypt charge a lot import duty on spare parts? Thank you.

Egypt = mucho import duty, usually, on everything.
I've never imported anything here though apart from household possessions and a duty free car. Neither were subject to it but only because I hid all my computer stuff.

Others on here have had stuff brought in and they can more accurately give that info, but it is a lottery day to day and item to item. Maybe they also know a way round it by stating it's an old replacement part.

Possibly Anwar, who often acts as the delivery address for overlanders, can be more specific.

i live in Alexandria ,and always Anwar do service and working on my bikers (german or japanese bike he is the man and in a good price.i think he can sort the sensor some how
my gs 80 still in his shop though

I'm planning to do Alexandria - Capetown for few years ,but still on papers only hopefully next year !

There are also two KTM shops in Egypt, maybe they could help you (they could receive the part at their address if you don't have an address in Egypt).

There is one in Cairo and one in Sharm El Sheikh.

Half of my family lives in Alexandria and Cairo, they speak arabic, english, french and italian. If you need some help just shoot...

try to do saint Kathrine road if you will head west to Suez canal its realy good road and you will enjoy it ,i just had a short trip to Dahab and nwibaa ,and i used the road ,almost 2 month ago

how about you come to alex rest and then we go together to Cairo Mohamed Anwar to service your bike? i want to do some work on my bike too

oh also you may but cheap Egyptian sim card its like 3 $ for it and you can charge it for 4$ will be enough for 100 min of talk i believe . you can find it every where in Egypt ,but make sure your cell phone is not locked (you have the right to put any other sim car in it
